2006

all books in the Top 100 were from Marvel or DC, with a fairly even split of 53 Marvel, 47 DC, although a great deal of that latter figure has to be credited to the weekly sales juggernaut 52, which accounted over half (24 of 47) of DC’s titles in the Top 100.

to how that all translates in the big picture, as expected Marvel Comics held the overall 2006 advantage in both Dollar and Unit Market Share. Marvel garnered 38.48% in Dollar Share to DC’s 34.47% and in Unit Share, Marvel captured 42.33% for the year, to DC’s 36.95.

I've only read the Crisis, 52, and Brave New World books out of that list.

I have them all except Wolverine: Origins and maybe 52 #11 (I stopped buying it around that time). I'm such a sheep.

If Marvel hadn't encountered all those delays they might have had another Civil War issue or two in the top ten. Ah well. There's always 2007 to conquer.

Marvel will win 2007 hands down. Marvel's Civil War conclusion and fallout books plus World War Hulk beats WWIII by DC.

This is surreal. I usually end up owning mabye 10 of any given year's 20 top-selling books. This year it's 23 out of 25.

I have no idea what that says about me. Or the industry. Or anything, really.

Forget I said anything.

I read quite a few of those books; certainly more than half of them. I think there may have been three or four pages that I liked.

The books I'm responsible for on the list:

6 JUSTICE LEAGUE O/AMERICA #1 $3.99 DC
7 INFINITE CRISIS #4 (Of 7) $3.99 DC
8 INFINITE CRISIS #6 (Of 7) $3.99 DC
9 INFINITE CRISIS #5 (Of 7) $3.99 DC
10 INFINITE CRISIS #7 (Of 7) $3.99 DC
13 WOLVERINE ORIGINS #1* $2.99 MAR
14 JUSTICE LEAGUE O/AMERICA #2 $2.99 DC
17 ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN #4* $2.99 DC
18 ASTONISHING X-MEN #13* $2.99 MAR
20 DCU BRAVE NEW WORLD #1 $1.00 DC
25 JUSTICE LEAGUE O/AMERICA #3 $2.99 DC

And of those 11, I only have 7 of them at the house. I sold my Infinite Crisis run on ebay. I read the first arc in Wolverine: Origins and dropped it soon after. All Star Batman & Robin, well if we're lucky we'll see #5 in late 2007. Astonishing X-Men and Justice League of America are the only two books that are still on my pull list. The Brave New World special led to me adding All-New Atom to my list as well.
