From Classic Rock Magazine:
There are changes to the Whitesnake roster, with the band losing their rhythm section.
Out go bassist Uriah Duffy and drummer Chris Frazier. However, there’s already a replacement for the latter. He’s Brian Tichy, who’s worked with Ozzy, Foreigner, Pride & Glory and Billy Idol in the past.
The band are currently writing songs for their new album, due out in the spring through Frontiers. It’s expected to be produced by the Brutal Brothers.
Says main Snake, David Coverdale: “I feel that with the last album [2008's Good To Be Bad] we achieved a strong Whitesnake ‘cocktail’ that comfortably embraced and mixed all the previous musical aspects and styles of the band’s history, while taking our identity a little further… all on one album.”

Whitesnake have released further details about their upcoming album on the band’s website. Forevermore is tentatively set for release at the end of March on Frontiers Records. Leonine frontman David Coverdale assured fans the album will hit all the marks they expect from a Whitesnake album.
“The new songs are in the very familiar and recognizable Whitesnake territory of soulful, bluesy, melodic power rock, with a couple of ballads thrown in for good measure. It can't be a Whitesnake album without ballads, mate!

I'll be looking forward to this. I recently bought the entire catalog, even though I'm a big fan of the early Whitesnake. Stuff after Saints and Sinners wasn't bad, but I like the early stuff more.

I'm looking forward to it, as well. "Good To Be Bad" was phenomenal!
Never did pick that up as I'm a much bigger fan of the Blues era, but I should get that-I liked what I heard and Doug Aldrich is a demon on guitar. The Live In The Still Of The Night DVD is one of the best looking and sounding DVDs I've ever watched! I will get this new album.

We told you about this in yesterday's digest but here is the over-the-top-adjective-filled announcement for those who want more details or others who are entertained by hype:
Whitesnake, the legendary rock'n'roll legacy founded and formed by renowned singer/songwriter David Coverdale, unleashes a brand new storming 'Snake statement, "Forevermore" on Frontiers Records on March 25th in Europe and March 29th in North America.
Their 11th studio album, "Forevermore" was recorded, produced and mixed by Coverdale, guitarist Doug Aldrich and Michael McIntyre at Snakebyte Studios and Grumblenott Studios & Villas in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, with additional work at Casa Dala, Sherman Oaks, CA, and Whitesnake will take to the road for a full world tour in support of the release.
With "Forevermore" Coverdale has reignited an explosively fruitful vein of creativity with guitarist and co-writer/producer Aldrich, Reb Beach (Winger, Alice Cooper) on guitar, Brian Tichy (Ozzy, Billy Idol, Foreigner) on drums and Michael Devin (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Lynch Mob) on bass, and as with all Whitesnake's albums, Coverdale aided so capably by Aldrich opens up his heart and soul to express emotions and empathy rarely heard these days in any musical genre.
More than simply their latest release, "Forevermore" represents Whitesnake's no holds barred, most heartfelt, melodic and musically muscular excursion for many a year.
The album's release will be anticipated by the digital only release of the first single/video clip "Love Will Set You Free" on February 21st.
"Forevermore" will be specially released on a "Snake Pack" edition for the first 3 weeks in England only. This very special release – arranged in conjunction with Future Publishing and Classic Rock magazine - will come with a collector's edition 132 pages deluxe magazine + A1 poster & metal pin badge and shall feature an exclusive cover art and 2 bonus live tracks "Slide It In" and "Cheap An' Nasty" which will serve as an appetizer for the forthcoming "Live @ Donington 1990" to be released in the summer 2011.
The album is also being released on a double gatefold vinyl format, with deluxe special editions to be announced shortly.
"Forevermore" will include the following songs: Steal Your Heart Away; All Out Of Luck; Love Will Set You Free; Easier Said Than Done; Tell Me How; I Need You (Shine A Light); One Of These Days; Love And Treat Me Right; Dogs In The Street; Fare Thee Well; Whipping Boy Blues; My Evil Ways; Forevermore.

The video for "Love Will Set You Free" is available on Vevo (on iPad) and I believe YouTube. I absolutely and completely dig the hell out of it. I hated "Good To Be Bad" because, to me, it's somewhat of a parody of metal era 'Snake – nothing really fresh, just bad copies of what Whitesnake has done before.
On the other hand, the new tune is fresh and contemporary and, while it still sounds like Whitesnake, it doesn't copy anything they've done before. Really, really looking forward to this one.

It still sounds like the late 80's Whitesnake to me. I'm more of a fan of their stuff before they went all hair-band. Everything up thru Saints and Sinners will be my Whitesnake era for me.

Agreed-this song smokes. Classic Whitesnake chords and melodies. The guitars are huge on this one! And, I thought Good To be bad was cliched and weak-I never bought it, but there absolutely were a few good tunes and it did well. Hope this single is a good sign.

I've always said the Blues Rock era Whitesnake blows away the latter-day Arena Rock, but c'mon, Whitesnake and Slide It In are fanatstic albums and I don't think they're Hair Metal in the least-just the look of the band not the songs. The version of "Crying In The Rain" on Whitesnake is one of the best songs in the band's history and "Still Of The Night" has nothing to do with Hair Metal. My favorite album without a doubt is Ready An' Willing though with Come An' Get It right behind.

That's funny, because to me this sounds A LOT like pre-"Slide It In" songwriting with "1987" type guitar work. For me, it's a nice blending of the two styles.
I'm a huge, huge fan of the pre-Sykes era Whitesnake but the Sykes stuff will always be at the top for me. Those two albums are 2 of my all-time favorites.

Cliched is absolutely the perfect word for what I thought of Good To Be Bad. I'm right there with you IP!!!!

Song previews are up on iTunes for all tracks. Sounds absolutely incredible!!!!!!!
Doesn't sound like traditional 'snake at all. This one is about as far from Good To Be Bad as possible. Sounds completely original and nothing like anything they've done before. Honestly, it's pretty shocking how different and contemporary it is. It may leave some fans unhappy because it's really missing the usual Whitesnake sound but I'm digging the hell out of it. Kudos to Coverdale for trying something new and different and still coming out rocking!
The only negative would be the slow songs. They sound like good tunes, but Coverdale's voice is bad, bad, bad. It almost sounds like he's singing way out of range. His voice is definitely shot.
That said, this one can't come out soon enough for me. I'm completely stoked.
