Looks like the UK regions are the only ones getting the goodies this time. (Like the Moody Blues expensive imports) Notice the DVD warning at the bottom.

With their reunion tour losing Peter G and Steve H this just adds to the insult. Of course the tour will cost well into the $100's and not be close to worth it. I saw them on the Invisible Touch tour and even though it was good, a reunion without the above two just means a ballad heavy set list. Pass. But these sets should sound good.

GENESIS IMPORT HYBRID SACD SET 1 (5 x SACD + 5 x DVD)

Get This Money Saving Package on the New Genesis Import SACDs!

EMI and their Virgin Records label in Europe announced that they plan to bring 14 classic albums by Genesis to 5.1 Super Audio CD discs this year. The Genesis Remastered Series SACDs will be released as double disc packages with each album consisting of a Hybrid Layer Surround Sound Super Audio CD (SACD Surround Sound, SACD Stereo and CD Stereo mixes) and a separate DVD Video disc.

Fans of Genesis and SACD fans have been patiently waiting for this announcement for several years - ever since work on remixing and remastering these albums into 5.1 Surround Sound began in 2003. Since that time, they have been getting regular updates on the massive re-mixing project that has been helmed by Genesis co-producer and engineer Nick Davis on the band's official web site.

Set 1 includes:

A Trick Of The Tail (1976)

Wind & Wuthering (1977)

…And Then There Were Three…(1978)

Duke (1980)

Abacab (1981)

*The DVD included in this package is in PAL version and is not playable in all DVD players. Some DVD players will be able to read the PAL format but many will not.

Hearing "Trick" and "Wuthering" in SACD Surround will be the treat of the year for me.

"Wuthering" is my all-time favorite Genesis album (they one I first bought all those years ago).

My DVD player plays PAL discs so I'll order the European versions asap.

That is the way I am going to go on this after the problems I had with the second batch of Depeche Mode SACD/DVD's

All USA PC based dvd players will play PAL, probably about 1/3 of USA standalone players will also do so. To find out if your standalone player does region free PAL, go to the video menu & see if there is an option to always output NTSC. If so, your player can read both formats. Regions are a totally seperate issue.

I think the PAL videos will be region 0 so they should play in most DVD players anyway.

It would be good if the yellow Genesis album and Invisible Touch are remastered. I never understood why they weren't remastered with the other Genesis albums awhile back. Same record company, etc.

They are-every studio album from 1970-1997 is being handled this time.

Geff:

They are doing every album-they're just starting with these. I can't change your mind, but man, give these albums a listen. These are all my favorite period of Genesis (1976-1981) and they are among my favorite albums by anybody ever!
Wind And Wuthering contains some of the most involved, beautiful music I've ever listened to especially "Eleventh Earl Of Mar", "Afterglow" and "One For The Vine".
Hell, these are brilliant. Maybe you can give them a try with all the bells and whistles these remasters will have! If not, well, I tried!

Invisible Pedestrian, I am in complete agreement with you. :ohyes:

"Wind & Wuthering" is my favorite Genesis album and "Then There Were Three" is a great follow-up. I love Genesis across the board mind you but these albums have a unique beauty. :love3:

Need also to mention "A Trick of a Tail".

Is there any chance of these reissues coming out in the U.S.? The cost for the imports of this reissue series...very expensive.
