Alright. This week was the annual Toyfair event, where companies show off new and upcoming product for retailers and press.

There will be a fair few pics. None of them are mine. I've just uploaded them to my Photobucket. They're all watermarked with the respective sites. This also is NOT a comprehensive log. I'm not showing everything, just things I liked, and/or thought others may like. I'm sure I'll have missed some stuff.

First up: there's been a rumour going around that DC Direct is not going to be making action figures anymore, and that Mattel will now be handling all toys, while DC Direct does statues, busts, etc. Higher end stuff, really. It co-incides with Georg Brewer's leaving, after 9? years in charge of DC Direct.

Mattel already has DC Universe Classics and Green Lantern Classics, and numerous other DC lines aimed at kids.

They've announced they're also now doing figures based on the 'Arkham Asylum' game, which does tend to lend some credence to the rumour. DC Direct also has figures coming up from the game, but this is the first directly competing line.

Anyway, onto the pics.

First up, these are from the upcoming Legion Of Super-Heroes 12-pack (Yep, nice way to get a whole Legion at once):

That Cockrum Legion 12 pack looks sweet. Please tell me the two characters not picture are Violet and Duo Damsel.

The Bronze Tiger figure looks pretty cool. I didn't know he was a black dude either.

Okay, this isn't technically comics related, but I love it, and have had mine on pre-order for a few weeks now. :)

It's a massive Lion-O from the Thundercats.

Thundercats had a big presence, with plenty of toys coming out for the new cartoon, and material from the 80's cartoon (like the above 14 inch figure) for the nostalgic amongst us.

PS I may be uploading these pics over the next few days, as I see various stuff that looks neat. Plus it's 2:30am here. :D

Next we have pics of a new line of Marvel toys, aimed at kids. I initially thought these were 'Super-Hero Squad' figures but they aren't. They're more articulated, not so super-deformed, and apparently bigger. They look really nice, nice classic clean looks to them. I think those amongst us with kids, will enjoy these, both for their kids, and themselves. :)

He's awesome. He decisively beat Batman in hand-to-hand combat in the pre-Crisis universe.

12-pack? As in all 12 come in one set?

They're really nice- I'd like a Brainiac 5, Chameleon Boy and maybe Wildfire.

The Bronze Tiger is great looking too.

I think they miss a lot of the appeal of the Legion
by not having more female characters in that set.

Now we'll quickly look at a few Kotokubiya products. First up is a Colossus statue. Looks pretty neat.

Next are two more entries in the Marvel: Bishoujo lines. Bishoujo means 'pretty girls', and are a line of anime looking Marvel females. They're honestly really neat. I absolutely love the ones I own - Rogue and Phoenix. I'll definitely be getting these two as well. I'm especially thrilled with Jean, as this is my favourite costume of hers, and I wasn't expecting another Jean so soon after Phoenix. These are obviously not to everyone's taste: you either like the style, or you don't. Not much middle ground.

In the set: Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Cosmic Boy, Chameleon Boy,
Colossal Boy, Invisible Kid, Karate Kid, Matter-Eater Lad, Ultra Boy, Timber Wolf
and Wildfire.

Plus Superboy and Proty.

So, 13 and 1/4 figures?

Yes. They're only available in one colossal 12-pack, which I think will also have accessories like Proty, and possibly a ball painted to look like Bouncing Boy.

I believe it'll be on sale at Mattel's website, http://www.mattycollector.com

I'm not sure when.

Looks like they are kicking around a $180 price tag for the Legion figures.
That seems rather a lot.

So how big are these figures supposed to be?
And, I suppose they saved the female figures for later individual sales?

You'd figure you want him bigger than the rest.

Next up is Hasbro's 4-inch 'Marvel Universe' line. There's some GREAT stuff coming up. My personal favourite is the Fantastic Four pack, all modeled off the unfortunately short-lived Dale Eaglesham costumes and look. Sue looks a bit butch though. This post will be split up, as there's quite a few pics I think people will want to see.

We'll start with the biggest, which is the massive Sentinel. I believe it's a tad bigger than the older Toy Biz one, but again, I'm not sure. I'm hoping they repaint it with more purple, to make it look more classic. To give you a sense of the scale, note the Reed figure next to it. The Reed is roughly 4 inches tall.

I'm assuming these come as a pack, along with the other 2 sets shown

The robot instead of the Human Torch?
That Sentinel looks good.

Here's some miscellaneous shots of other Marvel Universe figures coming out in 2011. These are ones I particularly liked, obviously your taste may vary. You can see from the big group shot though, that there really is going to be something for everybody: from the silver age to current comics, they're covering a fair bit of ground, which is great to see.
