You know, if Mary's hair were red, that would be a perfect avatar for Linda! (or maybe Mary?)

This may be the first time the Marvel family has ever looked interesting to me. I'll check this out for sure.

I'd be like a kid finding out there's no Christmas if this thing turns out bad. The art is excellent. And based on Bone I am pretty confident that Jeff Smith has what it takes to do Captain Marvel.

I mean, it's Jeff Smith. This will be good.

She's so tiny, she could be Mellisa.

Well it's not as cartoony as the earlier pages someone posted here, but it's still most definitely not for me. Why make Mary a kid?

Why make Captain Marvel grim 'n' gritty, as they've done in the other book?

If those are the choices, I'll go with Mary as a kid.

I think if you want to capture that Old School jeez, shucks wonder, then various changes are going to be made. Might be an interesting angle, since Billy is a bit older and more mature than Mary, and, being a older kid, probably wouldn't want to have much to do with her.

Why do those have to be the choices?

DC is selling lots of options. There's this one, plus Trials of Shazam (which I assume is the gritty one?), the mostly crappy 70s version collected in a Showcase volume, several Archives, and a collection of Ordway's Power of Shazam. Really, there's lots to choose from.
