Cool. Bob Layton is a major talent in comics and I recall hearing some of what he had in mind for Iron Man: The End. Should be good stuff.

Rereading the editorial, it seems that Layton says that he probably won't work on the regular serie, even if at the origine it was supposed to be a part of the contract.
So we will have:
1) Iron Man: The End with Michelinie and a still unknow artist. I really hope that the guy they try to have is Romita jr. To the record JRjr didn't took well at the time the fact that Layton leave Marvel for Valiant when they were supposed to do a run together on Iron Man, Layton doing the story and the inks, JRjr doing the art. Layton's choice broke their friendship. As everybody know we had Byrne/Romita jr/ Wiacek instead. Who knows? Since the Layton/Quesada fiendship have come to its end, maybe Layton and Romita jr could work together again too.... If not Romita Jr, I'ld like Jerry Bingham, Mark Bright or Dick Giordano.
2) Other Iron Man projects.
3) Other Marvel projects about other characters.

Layton from his editorial: "In the meantime, Tom [Brevoort] and I have had several discussions about the perfect penciler for this special project [Iron Man: The End] and I will be announcing the selection of that artist as soon as the process is finalized. If the guy we're trying to get says 'yes'--you'll plotz when you find out who it is!"
Other that those i already named, i'ld like George Tuska too. But Romita Jr and Jerry Bingham are still my two favorites. Mark Bright or Giordano would be nice too.

I'd sell body organs (other people's of course) to have John Romita Jr and Bob Layton on an Iron Man comic again. Maybe, just maybe, Bob could have some influence on the direction of the character, and maybe steer him right again.

Problem is you can never go home again.....
Marshall Rogers Englehart and Austin's return to Batman was not the great thing fans of their original run wanted it to be....
Time will tell but much like Byrne and Austin on Orion it will be heart wrenching to see that the brilliance of the past cannot be recreated...

Micheline is a solid writer so we'll see.
Two things come to mind.
1) It appears, knowing Joe Q and Bob's history, that the movie is influencing this a great deal. After the Siegel and Shuster debacle, no one wants any bad publicity from known creators associated with their characters. The last thing marvel needs is Bob or David blasting the Iron man Movie. Though David is a VERY honest guy and he won't lie no matter what, on his opinion about the movie. But it won't matter as he has no interest in publicity or fandom.
2) It appears the reboot theory will happen, after Civil War. When all is at its darkest, Marvel will bring back the "real" Marvel Comics again (I hope).

I tend to doubt that at this point. They had a perfect moment for that at the end of House of M and didn't take it. Unless they plan to drag things back to Scarlet Witch mucking with reality (or some other plot device) to achieve a reboot I think things are firmly stuck in the current plots they have. I still think they have a perfect way to reboot things back to 1984 if they really, really wanted to. But it'll never happen.

Care to elaborate? Honestly, barring a few decent titles and storylines that came after, I wouldn't be very opposed to that...
Maybe it's just nostalgia, or perhaps my being in my late teens at the time, but by the late 1980's, most of Marvel's output was already starting to slide downhill in quality to me.
