Product Description
Released in conjunction with the anniversary of the original 2001 release date, musicforthemorningafter will now be available as a 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION two-CD set. CD One of this commemorative edition includes the original 15-song album, newly remastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Bob Ludwig. Collectors will note that the final track of the album, which has remained an unindexed hidden track in catalog all these years, is now formally indexed and identified: A Girl Like You.

The second CD starts with the entire acoustic performance given by Yorn and his band at the time of the original release on Morning Becomes Eclectic, the popular radio program hosted by Nic Harcourt at KCRW. The show reprised about half the songs on the album (Life On A Chain, Strange Condition, Sense, For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is), On Your Side, Just Another, Murray), plus a cover of the Smiths' Panic, and an interview segment. The remainder of CD Two comprises four rarities: A previously unreleased demo version of Closet (from Yorn's personal archive); a previously unreleased song titled The Barber that was cut during the musicforthemorningafter sessions; Knew Enough To Know Nothing At All, which has appeared as a bonus track and a B-side on various vinyl configurations in Europe and in Japan; and Life On A Chain (Hooky's Mix 2011), a previously unreleased mix by Brad Wood (another musicforthemorningafter album producer) made especially for this 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION.

Additionally, the release includes a new liner notes essay written by Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke, along with a personal note written by Yorn to his fans.

Really, is this really even necessary, a remaster of an album from just ten or eleven years ago? :-o

This album was re-released once already, in 2002, as a "Special Limited Edition 2-Disc Package". The bonus cd contained four videos, a newly-recorded "Rock Version" of the song "Strange Condition", and covers of Springsteen ("New York City Serenade" and "Dancing In The Dark"), The Smiths ("Panic"), and Bowie ("China Girl").

The original album sounded fine, why bother with a new Bob Ludwig remaster of it? As noted above, the song "Knew Enough To Know Nothing At All" appeared on the vinyl release, and on the CD-single "Life On A Chain" at the very least. The KCRW sessions were fairly widely circulated at the time, not sure if they ever appeared on a promo or otherwise legitimate release, though. The only unique offerings here (if you already have heard the radio session, that is) are ONE demo, a song that didn't make the cut, and a 2011 remix of a song (whoop-de-doo). Oh yeah, and Pete's "personal note" to his fans ("... yeah, I'd like mine made out "To my biggest fan Bruno, xoxoxo Pete")

Good album, but still readily available and don't see the point of this rei$$ue, the diehard fans likely have all of this already and the newer converts will likely download the stuff for free anyways
