Product Description
In Your Dreams is Nicks' first CD of new material since the release of her Grammy nominated Trouble in Shangri-La ten years ago. In Your Dreams was written and recorded at Nicks' Los Angeles home and is co-produced by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard. Nicks and Stewart co-wrote seven of the album's thirteen songs. "I had written a song in Brisbane, Australia when I was on tour with Fleetwood Mac in 2009 called 'Moonlight - A Vampire's Dream' which was inspired by the New Moon film. When I finished writing that song, which came together really quickly, I knew the time was right to start recording. We had a core group of five people who were at the heart of the creation of In Your Dreams. Dave and myself, my longtime friend and musical director, Waddy Wachtel, and my girls, Sharon Celani and Lori Nicks. It was a perfect blend," commented Nicks. "This was one of the most extraordinary experiences I've had making a record. It is the first album that I have had this kind of collaboration since the making of Rumours. Dave created a situation where I could be totally creative and focused on writing songs and making music. I cannot remember ever having this much fun making a record. Writing the songs and recording them in my home studio was the key element in how this music turned out. It made the whole process seem very similar to how we used to work back in the day," she concluded.

The first single is "Secret Love" written by Nicks. "It was 1976 and Fleetwood Mac was opening for Peter Frampton at the time. It was written about a forbidden relationship - not Peter and I," laughed Nicks. "I always knew that one day I was going to record the song."

Nicks is currently gearing up to join forces with fellow rocker Rod Stewart for the 16 city Heart & Soul Tour, one of the most anticipated music events of the year.

From Anti-Music.com:

Fleetwood Mac songstress Stevie Nicks has started songwriting collaboration with Dave Stewart. She told the New York Daily News, “I gave him a book of 50 poems I had written over the years and he really liked them.”

Last February, Stewart and Nicks began writing material for a new Stevie Nicks solo album. “I’ve never before written anything with anybody else,” she said. “This is a great opportunity to do something new. I now understand why John Lennon and Paul McCartney worked so well together. You feed so much off each other.”

The album is due in the spring of 2011 and will likely include musical contributions from Mike Campbell, Waddy Wachtel and Mick Fleetwood.

Nicks also issued a warning about the Internet, stating: “The Internet has destroyed rock. Children no longer develop social graces. If you’re not an established band, if you don’t have a hit single, they’re gonna drop you. There are a lot of people out there as talented as we were, but they can’t sustain being in a rock ’n’ roll band for long without success. We were able to, but we’re going to die out.”

Weird comment. I was under the impression that the net was helping new artists.

I'll have to hear this one before purchase. I am very much not a Eurythmics fan, in fact something about their music has always rubbed me the wrong way.

Wikipedia says,

"The Waddy Wachtel Band has been performing on most Monday nights at The Joint, 8771 West Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles since 2000. The band includes Waddy Wachtel, Phil Jones, Rick Rosas, and Jamie Savko, with regular guests Bernard Fowler, Blondie Chaplin and Keith Allison. Special guests who have sat in with the band have included: Keith Richards, Joe Walsh, Robert Plant, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Roger Daltrey, Billy Squier, Adam Sandler and others.

Waddy appeared on the 2010 Grammy television presentation backing Taylor Swift's live presentation. In Ms. Swift's duet with Stevie Nicks of the song Rhiannon, Waddy was featured on lead guitar."

So does this mean no new FM release until at least 2012, never, or is there one already in the can?

I thought last year they had said they were going to put something out and tour in 2010 (which obviously didn't happen).

I assume Waddy's legal troubles are behind him?

Based on the Wiki article, that would seem to be the case.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waddy_wachtel

"Legal issues

Wachtel and his wife Annie were arrested in 1998 on suspicion of possession of child pornography after questionable images were found on the computer in their bedroom, after they had taken it in for repair.[5][6] Wachtel was sentenced to three years probation after pleading no contest to the charges.[7] In an interview with a Fleetwood Mac fansite in 2000, Wachtel's bandmate in Stevie Nicks' touring band, Brett Tuggle, responded to a question about these charges saying "All I really know is that there were some files on his computer that were questionable when he took it in to be fixed and most of what happened was completely blown way out of proportion by the press and was dismissed anyway ... there is no way Stevie would have him in her band if she thought he was guilty of any wrong doing".[8]"

Here's footnote #8:

"Hello Melissa,

You're right Stevie loves children and she would never have Waddy in her band if there we any real truth to him being involved in child pornography. All I really know is that there were some files on his computer that were questionable when he took it in to be fixed and most of what happened was completely blown way out of proportion by the press and was dismissed anyway. Waddy is a wonderful person, I have complete faith in the fact that he is not a weirdo but sometimes we all learn hard lessons. Downloading stuff from the Internet scares the heck out of me. I think Waddy learned that the hard way but there is no way Stevie would have him in her band if she thought he was guilty of any wrong doing. Show business is tough sometimes....

I am such a bone head for not mentioning Lindsey in one of my earlier Q & A's. Of course he is going to be there and I am very excited to see him again. He is going to bring the house down..... Thanks Melissa and take care....

Brett"

Back to the music... the album is called "In Your Dreams" (pun obviousy intended ;-) ) and will be released on May 3rd, 10 years after her last solo album "Trouble In Shangri-La".

I can't wait, I can't wa-aiiiit!

BTW, Stevie will appear on Ellen tomorrow (the 13th) together with Rod Stewart. They are expected to announce their joint tour. Not quite the dream pairing the Stevie/Don Henley tour was in 2005...

Love it. And Atlanta is the third stop on her tour, too.

She sounded good but a little rough on Ellen yesterday. She still looks great and the band was solid including Waddy.

Interesting. This song "Secret Love" was on the Fleetwood Mac album (ahem) "Almanac" from 1979...

Good old "Goat Throat." No surprises here, just that standard Stevie Nicks sound that her fans enjoy.

Have you ever noticed that all her lyrics always contain a heroine at the top of a staircase or entering a room, usually with one tear falling down her cheek? (lol) I'll buy this new disc if I can get a couple MORE of those.

While I was a big S.N. fan in the early days (& I still like her), there was a long running joke with my friends about her sounding like a sheep.

I used to say the same thing about Belinda Carlisle! :ohyes:
