Hey folks - James Taylor posted this cover in the 'Supey-Woopey' thread in the WANderground:
I love this Supergirl costume design! Does anybody have any other scans/pics of it? Specifically showing the detail around her neck? It looks like it could be some sorta black flared collar, but I'm not sure.
I'm just thinking about doing a sketch of this piece, something in a space setting. It looks like it could be an excellent space-suit variant for her.
Thanks in advance

That cover gets the collar wrong, it usually looked like this-
Although it was inconsistent even like that; some times it was red and some times blue.

The cover Ian posted also appears to have no chest emblem.
Might they be different but similar costumes?

The chest emblem came and went. That costume was constantly in flux. She only wore it for 2 issues, she went through a series of costumes for a while.

Other costumes from that period:
This one looks kinda New Gods to me-
I like the gloves
This is probably the best known and most used from around then:

An explanation! It started in Adventure 407 and apparently was a fan interaction thing-

It definitely was a fan interaction thing, I have most of those, I remember it from the letter col.
And I was plenty irked when Supergirl bumped the LSH from Adventure.

I saw the title to this thread, then saw who started it, and thought, "Why hasn't this been moved downstairs yet..."

It's a uniform because there are multiple Super-Wearers of it. Supergirl, Superman, Krypto, Streaky, Beppo, Super-Horse, The Superman Emergency Squad, etc.
It's a costume because she mostly referred to it as her costume. Also as her outfit.
They're all correct, so I hope that panel didn't ruin the story for Danny ...

The sad part is... I have all of these issues. And, I was plenty irked when the LSH was moved. And to top it off, when we did get to see them, they were a backup series in Action Comics. Drawn by George Tuska.
How long until we get Dave Cockrum and...
MORE COSTUMES?

Man, DC should still do that fan interaction thing for Supergirl's costumes, that would be a lot of fun. But before that, they should find some way to not make the current Supergirl such an unlikeable *bleep*.
