Reading through ESSENTIAL IRON MAN volume 1 tonight, and got the idea to create a thread about favorite quotes from characters. Here goes:

Iron Man, from TALES OF SUSPENSE #44, trapped in ancient Egypt, says:
Quote:
My first task will be to capture Hatap's magical charm... If he's destroyed or hidden it, I may be stuck in the past forever!! Cleopatra's beauty is almost worth it, but my work is in the 20th Century!

Way to keep your priorities straight, Mr. Stark!

A few which come to mind...

From Watchmen
Ozydamius wrote:
Do it? Dan, I'm not a republic serial villain. Do you think I'd explain my masterstroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting it's outcome?
I did it thirty-five minutes ago.

From Amazing Spider-Man
Mary Jane Watson wrote:
Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot.

From Avengers: Kree-Skrull War
The Vision wrote:
Another correction, Iron Man. My brain is a miniaturized, high-speed computer. I always know precisely what I am doing.
I- am- killing- him!

From The Dark Knight Returns
Batman wrote:
Nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do, Clark.

From The Ultimates
Captain America wrote:
Attention, Hulk, this is Captain America speaking. You see those spacecraft up there? The big triangular machines? Well, I was talking to those pilots earlier and you know what they told me? You know what they were saying about you, Hulk? These guys called you a sissy-boy, buddy. You really gonna let them get away with that?

From Daredevil: Born Again (I may be paraphrasing as I don't have the book on me at the moment.)
Captain America wrote:
I'm loyal to nothing, general, except the dream.

Bannings: One too few . . .
Those are good ones.

One of my favorites is short and sweet from G.I. Combat #58, the first appearance of the character that was the inspiration for Sgt. Rock:

Quote:
C'mon and fight!!

Here's one that came to mind from Green Lantern Rebirth #4:

Quote:
My thoughts and emotions shift. My body aches. My soul does not. I'm finally thinking clearly. I'm finally thinking like me. There's no more cries for vengeance. No more fear. But plenty of damn will. Will to stand up. Will to fight. And will to live. "Sinestro. . . . Get the hell away from them."

From the first issue of She-Hulk in 2004...

I'm sorry, Jen, but in the end the deciding factor was your attitude. We do serious work here.

Jennifer Walters wrote:
I am very serious.

Blake Tower wrote:
Jen, last night you crushed one of our copiers taking pictures of your butt.

Jennifer Walters wrote:
How do you know that was me? It could have been anyone.

Blake Tower wrote:
It was a color copier, Jen.

Jennifer Walters wrote:
Oy.

My favorite quote (and I'm paraphrasing here) was from whichever early DC/Marvel crossover that first had Dr. Doom. Doom had some comment along the lines of, "Only Doom would wield such power! Only Doom would dare!"

"Pain? Pain is like love . . . like compassion! It is a thing only for lesser men. What is pain to Doom?"

I have a few from Moore's run on Miracleman, but I'll have to read through them to get the exact quotes.

Couple that spring to mind.

One, which I've used regularly when I am called away from my duties here at the Internet's Second Favourite Forum:

"Bruce? Clark. Just thought you should know, I'm going to be out of town for thew next few days.....WAY out of town."

(Left on Bruce Wayne's answering machine in Dark Knight Returns)

And anyone who writes Captain America dialogue like whomever wrote his speech about freedom and speech from when Bernie Rosnethal discovered Cap was Steve Rogers truly, truly gets the character. I don't have it handy, but thats how Cap speaks. :)

"And I... I have shown him ... that a man without hope ... is a man without fear."

That line gives me chills every time. Is "Born Again" the greatest comic story ever? Possibly.
