He had a pretty funny stand-up routine. Odd that he seemed to fall off the radar.

I would have never guessed he was that young. That means in about 1977 he was 32.

He was my favorite Barney Miller character. RIP, Steve. You will be missed.

I liked him.

I remember part of his stand-up was about rural Jews.

"Hey, Ma! We gonna be late for Tempul!"

Bummer. Just heard this on the radio and then looked for the thread that I figured would be here. I loved Arthur Dietrich on Barney Miller. "Hey. Where did you get the atomic bomb?"

The "Blazing Saddles" DVD includes an unaired pilot episode for a "Saddles"-based TV series called "Black Bart". Landesberg played the "Waco Kid" part.

Ironically, Abe Vigoda seems to be the only "Barney Miller" cast member I can recall ever seeing in anything since that show ended, other than Max Gail's appearance in the classic "D.C. Cab".

I saw Landesberg himself a year or two back when he played an addicted comedian on an episode of the Cleaner.

He was in FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL just recently.

He also did voices on Harvey Birdman, as well as parts on Everybody Hates Chris, Golden Girls, and Law And Order.

I keep seeing Ron Glass pop up here and there. I guess I most remember him lately on Firefly and Serenity as Shepherd Book.

Max Gail was recently on Sons and Daughters and then on Gary Unmarried.

I wondered why the name Ron Glass seemed so familiar, but I couldn't place it. Of course it's Shepherd Book.

Shows you how out of it I am, pop culturally speaking. For all I know, Mindy Cohn plays Hannah Montana's mom or something.

He wasn't. The obituary has been corrected---he was 74, which means in 1977 he was 41.

He apparently did a show called Head Case.(2007-2009). I guess I'll see if I can check it out.

He was the best.

Whenever I want to make my wife laugh, I do my impression of Diedrich's unintentional impression of Gregory Peck.

"Walter. Go away. Beverly is busy."
