From AntiMusic.com:

Nine Inch Nails‘ debut album Pretty Hate Machine will be getting an official re-issue on November 22. On a post made by Trent Reznor on the official NIN site:

I’m happy to finally announce the re-issue of the first Nine Inch Nails record “Pretty Hate Machine,” releasing worldwide 11/22. UMe and Bicycle Music Group managed to locate the original mixes, so I went in the studio with Tom Baker and remastered it for a grealy improved sonic experience. In addition, Rob reinterpreted Gary Talpas’ original cover to make for a fresh new package.

It’s been an interesting trip watching the fate of this record float from one set of hands to another (a long and depressing story) but it’s finally wound up in friendly territory, allowing us to polish it up a bit and present it to you now. We had fun revisiting this old friend, hope you enjoy.

TR

The album will be re-issued on digital, CD, and vinyl formats worldwide.

I didn't think Trent regarded major labels as "friendly territory" anymore...

Although Trent Reznor has put Nine Inch Nails on indefinite hiatus, that doesn’t mean he’s completely done with his industrial rock outfit. He’s recently been at work on a reissue of the band’s 1989 debut album, Pretty Hate Machine.

Reznor and engineer Tom Baker remastered all of the original album’s tracks, and added the Queen cover “Get Down, Make Love,” which appeared as a B-side to NIN’s 1990 single, “Sin.” The remastered re-release hits stores on November 22.

“It’s been an interesting trip watching the fate of this record float from one set of hands to another (a long and depressing story) but it’s finally wound up in friendly territory, allowing us to polish it up a bit and present it to you now," Reznor said in a post on Nine Inch Nails’ website. “We had fun revisiting this old friend.”

Pretty Hate Machine reissue track list:

1. “Head Like a Hole”
2. “Terrible Lie”
3. “Down in It”
4. “Sanctified”
5. “Something I Can Never Have”
6. “Kinda I Want To”
7. “Sin”
8. “That’s What I Get”
9. “The Only Time”
10. “Ringfinger”
11. “Get Down, Make Love”

This is one of those albums I fell in love with years ago (c. 1991) and even though I haven't played it in a decade or more I can't bring myself to part with it.

"Get Down, Make Love" was a great cover that I heard on a friend's CD single but never got around to buying. The addition of that track to the remaster might just get me to buy this one more time...

I'm on this, but I don't see why they should change the artwork. I own the original TVT pressing of this and have heard the reissues and all sound very thin.I wonder if they are going to bring up the bottom end for this remaster.

I can't believe they just remastered it and didn't remix it. I always felt that the electronic percussion, especially compared to later recordings, sounded punchless and cheesy in places. I'll give it a listen just to see what they tweaked.

I couldn't agree more. Given how powerful the live performances of the same songs were compared to the studio tracks, it seems like a no-brainer. Ah well.

Maybe they'll release the files so fans can remix.
