You know how it often seems that someone posts a cover, and someone else says "That's the first comic I ever had/saw?"

This is the thread to post nothing but those (plus discussion). Search the earliest childhood memories you have of a cover, post it.

What's the first Batman cover you remember seeing?

What's the first Hulk cover you remember seeing?

What were you doing -- buying, or looking at older brother's?

I know I was collecting comics before these but I can't remember any specific stuff before them.

This is one of my earliest "Batman Family" titles -- I had this comic book as a wee lad (new off the rack). I was amazed that a bad guy like the Joker had his own comic book.

I gotta get some backissues of those old Marvel Tales... can't be too expensive and I was pretty into them. Re-read 'em over and over again.

I remember this one too...

I actually wanted this, because I loved it when I saw it on the newsstand, but couldn't find it again...

I got all the Pizza Hut comic books that I saw -- they gave these out when you bought a pizza.

We were crossing the island & province of Newfoundland, visiting my relatives in Robert's Arm. We stopped in a drug store to get some snacks and reading material. I am pretty sure my brother bought this comic...

Oddly, I don't remember what comic I may have gotten for myself, if any. I do know this was my first exposure to Batman comics and the first I remember of any comic.

I always loved that Detective logo with Batman's cape enswirling it.

It was used when I got it. Someone had used a silver crayon to color in the teeth.

Followed by...

Those were my first two comic books, and I held on to them for about 15 years.

(I have no doubt that I read comics before those -- Transformers for sure -- but a bulk value-pack of a dozen (?) Marvel comics including that X-Men and that Cap definitely got me started with the Marvel Universe proper, and that Scraplets issue of Transformers was the first one I ever bought myself at the newsstand.)

Got those last two off the rack! The Madcap issue didn't fair too well...Cap got a Cop 'stache. I'll scan it in when/if I find it. :yay:

 I did NOT remember that detail. But you're right! I remember the Nomad-hanging-with-Madcap-and-pretending-to-be-pals part of the story. And I remember the title of the story was "NOMAD-MADCAP-CAP," done in terribly impressively dramatic lettering.

...naw, I meant Cap ended up with a 'stache on the cover of my issue! You had to feel for Madcap though, his Church let him down. Sucks that Jack got cut down by Bucky. I always liked him, since he was in one of my first Cap issues.

:D See how easy memories can be implanted? You totally had me envisioning an interior panel with Cap in a disguise. No wonder poor Logan is so fucked up.

I remember that Scraplets issue! Of course I collected all 80 issues of Transformers before too long. I had a heck of a time finding 80. It was short printed and is now worth big bucks.

Oh really? I have #80. (Basically a complete run, though some of the early issues I have in the digest-sized double-issue reprints.) #80 is not in near-mint, though -- I fell asleep reading it in bed so it ended up a bit wrinkled.

I loved the fact that they went out with a smile -- it sorta took a bit of the sting out of the cancellation to see that they headlined it above the logo, "#80 in a four-issue limited series."

Ditto. I stopped following Nomad somewhere halfway through his '90s badass-with-scruff phase, but I still had a soft spot for him.

#80 is worth $100 mint. More slabbed.
