The Time Lords from "Doctor Who" don't seem to have names so much as titles...
the Doctor
the Master
the President
So what would your Time Lord name be?
I think mine would be the Author.

The President is really just the President and has a regular---for Time Lords anyway---name such as Rassilon and Borusa and the like. The Doctor and the Master are pretty rare when it comes to not using their real names. The Master's real name is Koshei or something close to that as they featured the story of when he "went bad" in an old Troughton novel. The Rani....not sure if that's her real name or not. Then you have the Meddling Monk who's name we never got and then the Doctor, who's name we've never heard. Romana's real name was just very long. Hank would probably remember it verbatim, I'm guessing, something like Romanvratnalundar. Never really thought about it much but the doctor is pretty rare in that we've never learned his real name when virtually all the other Time Lords have given theirs up pretty freely.

I've read that the "canonicity" of the novels is highly questionable.

True and I don't really hold it to be canonical (?)---just a helluva great story reading about Delgado's Master with Troughton. Excellent stuff.

What about the Tom Baker episode (don't remember which one) in which he ran into an old acquaintance that referred to him as "Theta Sigma?"

Theta Sigma, yeah, might have been Deadly Assassin with Baker and it was an old school nickname. They had an episode in McCoy's era too, "Happiness patrol" where he had an old school mate pop up and refer to him as Theta there as well. I *think* it had to do with an old college ranking or frat type of name.
