I hate the term "Black Friday." It's so cynical.

Bannings: One too few . . .
It comes from retail stores being "in the black" for the first time of the year. In terms of revenues/costs, they supposedly tip past their breakeven point on this day, and the profit for the whole year is really determined by how they do from here on out.

Oh, I thought it was named by retail workers who dread the day and the hours they have to work.

I may not be. It may have a double meaning.

My shopping manners are great, I'm not setting foot in any retail chain today...

Same here. I never experience this "Black Friday."

I want to read the end of the comic -- did Superman come in and deck all those soda-jerk boys or not?

I went to tour a historic house, a zoo, and a science museum to see a 3D IMAX movie about the Hubble space telescope.

But we did visit the museum gift shop, so I was in a retail establishment. Kinda. I was well behaved there.

I slept almost all day. I suppose businesses hated me for not going out and shopping.
I did pay my credit card bill online today, though.
And I paid my car insurance.

And I ate some soup.

I looked at Amazon's Black Friday deals, but didn't buy.
I also looked at Apple's Black Friday sales. Did not buy.

How were your manners while eating the soup?

I ate quietly, and vacated the chair upon finishing.

I was very polite when pressing "enter" on my Amazwan.com order.

I was tempted to get an IPad at Apple.com with $50 off but resisted. Other than that I avoided stores.
Seems like people like TVs.

I rode motor scooters with my Dad and brother. I got to ride Mom's Honda Express. Now I know what Officer Tsujimoto feels like riding her Motocompo. I actually passed my brother on Mom's new scooter. First time that Express has ever passed anything that wasn't stationary!

Mom and Dad's chihuahua had fun riding along with Dad in the dog sack Dad had prepared for him. He seems to be taking to riding pretty well.

What does all this have to do with beginning the Christmas shopping season? Nothing! And that was kind of the point.
