I recently purchased a DVD set on ebay at a great price. When it arrived it was a European dvd. Looking around it is cheaper to purchase an all region player instead of the US version of this deleted set. There are others out there that are cheaper too (other region DVD 's)

Do the all region players work that well? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any input in advance.

One thing to consider is whether the player can do PAL/NTSC conversion. "All region" simply means that the regional coding (read "blocking" software) is by-passed, but that doesn't mean that the signal itself will be compatible with a TV in a different market. Players that are multi-region and can convert to NTSC (the N. American standard) as well are invariably more expensive than the kind that will simply read a European DVD and put out a PAL signal.

I bought a region free DVD player a few years ago. It's the way to go....I've had no problems playing anything, and prices are pretty good.

I bought a Pioneer DV-410 V and it's been great and reliable. If you're buying off an internet store, go with a Pioneer model.

This is the place I used

I studied the Amazon customer comments on certain cheap models that I knew played NTSC/PAL until I found a code to hack the machine to make it all-region. Now I can watch PALs and Region 2 discs. Hello, England. (And hello Skippy in Australia.)

I picked up a Phillips (not home to check the model number at the moment) at Best Buy for under $40 - does the NTSC/PAL thing. There's a hack to make it region-free. Works like a charm and plays anything I throw at it, even scratched discs from Netflix.

I will ONLY buy region free players with Pal/NTSC conversion. I use the 2 sites below to id the players & get the hack codes. You get get a player anywhere from $30 megabucks. For cheap, historically most Philips players are handset hackable.
