It was my first computer, and I'd love to track one down somewhere...

They turn up now and then on e-bay, under vintage computing. My first was a Vic-20. I loved it. Stayed with commodore through the 64 and eventually the Amiga. It's a strange thing, but I really miss distinctive, named pcs :)

Mine was an Apple II+. There is an old D&D type game I played on it years ago I'd love to be able to track down.

Thanks to a DOS app for the iPad, I recently played through the late Sierra game Gabriel Knight II, which I missed the first time around.

What was the D&D game?

I actually wrote it about it in the WANderground video game thread. Amazingly, I even found the page it was on.

Quote:
I wish I could find a game I played on my Apple 2 years ago. It was a very basic D & D game. The graphics were VERY basic. You were basically a block that moved around the screen. As you went along you revealed the maze. They were blocks for treasure and blocks for monsters. And possibly traps If I remember correctly. For fighting you hit the space bar as a random number generator to hit the monsters. I would love to play that again. Even though it is clearly one of the most basic things around. I tried searching an Apple online disk archive with no luck. Can't even find a reference for it online.

One day I will play it again. One day.

I don't think I used the word basic enough in that post. . Anyway, that's the game. It is such a simple game but nostalgia forces me to search for it.

Hmmm. Doesn't sound the least bit familiar.

The Pope should come visit and dig through my huge collection of Apple ][ disks to see if I have it.

I wonder if those disks are still good?

Yo:

It's another board I occasionally visit. I can't won't vouch for the guy as I haven't dealt with him personally. However, I have traded on that site before and have only been ripped off once and on that one occasion I only got gipped a Dreamcast keyboard and the dude's mom made him refund the whole amount to me, including the amount I paid for the Dreamcast which I did receive.

I seriously doubt it was a widely released game. Which makes this all the more vexing!
