Was this a backhanded "homage" to Uncle Rog the way that the "Mr Ditkovitch" character from the Spider-Man movies was to Steve Ditko?

According to Jon Favreau on his appearance on The Howard Stern Show, it's a tribute to Howard Stern for promoting the first film so heavily.
