Am looking to buy a Donny & Marie Osmond comp for my girlfriend and the only greatest hits that AmazWAN lists is a skimpy, ten-song budget CD. Has the hits that one would need, but is there a full-length comp with more songs on it out there somewhere.
ICErs and IMWANkers...HEEEEELLLPPPP!!
Thank you and have an evil night, Dr. Chris Evil

The cheap-o comp includes "A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock & Roll," which was left off The Millennium Collection. You could spring for the Osmonds box set, which has all the family hits and is more Osmonds than anybody really needs. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004GJX8/?tag=imwan-20

I was a fan of their show (and particularly Marie) at age 10. I watched a rerun years back on TV Land and...well, I was 10, whaddya want from me? But the CD really is for my girlfriend. I think the box set is a bit much, so I'll probably go with the cheapo comp. That's probably enough. Is it missing any key hits?

I've got a "girlfriend" who likes Barry Manilow...oh, wait, that's me.
Just admit D&M is for you already...

The Osmond family comps are a real disaster. Even with the box set, I still had to buy additional Curb collections.
The cheapo comp is probably the best Donnie and Marie solution, but it is missing Paper Roses. It's a solo track for Marie, but I remember her doing it on the tv show.
Osmondmania (listed above) is a great comp, but it's missing A Little Bit Country...
It breaks my heart to have to make choices like these! Of course most of the albums are now available as two-fers. I know what I would do if I were starting over....

This is so subjective, but...
Yes. Osmondmania only has a few Donny and Marie songs. Leaving it all Up to You, Morning Side of the Mountain, Deep Purple. Plus a few Marie songs including Who's Sorry Now and Paper Roses.
Very sorely missed from this collection are Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing and A Little Bit Country.
If you are really only interested in the Donny and Marie stuff and can live without all that other great music (Down by the Lazy River, One Bad Apple, Sweet and Innocent!!!!) then go with your original comp.
If you want a little more, get the cheapo comp and add the Osmondmania cd which plugs a few of the gaps and gives you a great sampling of the rest of the family. It pains me to think that you would be without Puppy Love in your (I mean your girlfriend's) collection.

I ended up getting her both the Osmondmania and the cheap comp. She was happy.

The only cool thing that this brother & sister duo could ever do is make a tribute album to the greatest hits of bubblegum music. No one can question that they have the credentials to perform that music. Bubblegum is their "roots" music.
