i am already reading that the evil empire is prepared to offer cliff lee 280 million for 10 years.
they also have carl crawford in their sights.
i figure they will also offer the indians a dollar or two for grady siezemore, and of course the tribe will be stubborn and will say no, and then settle for $3 and 2 washed up minor league pitchers the empire was going to cut anyway.
ahhh, the off season!
p.s. watching pay-rod take that strike three made the whole season (all the boston injuries) feel better.

you can't win if you don't hit and we didn't hit...
I am sure they will make some adjustments and be ready to play again in April...
I must now turn my attention to my Cowboys...err
You know I got a lot of dvd's I haven't watched yet and cd's that still need to be listened too.
Good Luck to the Rangers...I am hoping they play the Giants...

They'll end up over paying for Lee, always a dangerous thing. They are kinda screwed because they need to re-sign so many older players. Guys they're gonna have trouble fnding spots for eventually. Plus Mariano doesn't mean a damn thing if he doesn't get into the game. He kinda rotted out in the bullpen this year.

(cause might as well face it posada is done.) shit, might as well just sign everybody in the game and automatically win the world series every year!!!!!!!

Actually, word is out now that Texas is going to try to re-sign Lee. I hope that they do.

The Yankees really need Lee (if both Pettite and Vasquez go bye-bye). They're stuck with Burnett for the time being and Phil Hughes still isn't a premier pitcher. And Josh Hamilton would be a bad fit in NY. With his dependency problems, NY is the worst place other than LA.

When I first saw the title of this thread, I had no clue it was about baseball! There are too many evil empires in the world these days........
I have to admit (with apologies to my Ice friends in New York), I'm pleased that the Yankees didn't make it.
In the unlikely case that there are any New Yorker's who don't already know, most of the rest of the baseball fans in the US hate the Yankees for their overspending.

Us folks in Connecticut LOVE the Yankees - well half of us - the others are knuckleheads and root for the Sox...only a small percentage are Met fans...

Just because NY can throw all that $$$ at Lee doesn't mean he wants to pitch there.

The only thing I've heard is Lee's agent said before the trade that he would not resign with Seattle under any circumstances.
Lee said that wasn't correct, but he sure didn't fire the agent.

If he was happy in Philadelphia, I'm sure he would have no problem with New York. Plus, he apparently was good friends with Sabathia from their days in Cleveland.....I'm sure he'll help recruit/convince him to come over.

Yankees, Phillies, Braves There's also something about the Los Angeles at Anaheim by way of Mexico City Angels (I've nicknamed them the Devils) that rubs me the wrong way also!

I live in Connecticut, New Haven county. 1 1/2 hours from the city. It is split 45% Yankees, 45% Sox, 5% Mets, 5% others. Either Met fans are hard to find or they keep their mouth shut. There woul be nothing better than another Yanks/Mets World Series - IMO.

Not sure how many Mets fans are in Conn. but any place with 45% Red Sox fans couldn't give a fair sampling of New York fans IMO. Not saying you think this way, but if anyone thinks that New York itself is 45% Yankees and 5% Mets... Right now I'd say it's maybe 70-30 due to the Yankees recent success and the Mets woes, but those are mostly fair-weather fans, as at times it's 50-50 and I've seen it in the Mets favor when they're up and the Yanks are down. As for die hard fans I'd say that segment is usually 60-40 in the Yankees favor, the rest of the fluctuation is caused by people who aren't really fans, but buy the hottest current hat (and usually wear it sideways).
