This promises to be a great weekend for music. This year's lineup is one of the more inspired with musicians of real substance. This is my first Bridge School in six years, and I can't wait to see T-Bone, Lucinda, Modest Mouse, and of course... Buffalo Springfield! Sort of brings everything full circle since I saw them 12/22/66. Hell, even Pearl Jam might turn in an impassioned set.
I thought it would be a great chance to meet some long-time fellow ICEr's and buy you a beer. Anyone attending?

Not this year, I'm afraid... on a totally unrelated topic, though, how did you get the Dylan box for only $50? Promo copy?

If you're aware of their color-coded price-tag system, "blue-stickered" means that it is a brand-new copy; not a promo, but brought in from outside the store which always go for much less. Usually this means a rep (in this case, a Sony rep) brought in a stack of copies to trade for credit. That's why it no longer makes sense to shop on the "New" side of the store when new copies can be had from the used section. It's also not unusual to see the die-hard shoppers planted at the buy/sell counter waiting to see what reps walk through the door. It happens all day long. Hey, I just gave away one of my shopping strategies. (lol) Renny, haven't heard a thing yet about Jimmy. That would be an interesting surprise.

Yup, I was thinking when I saw your original post that I should have just made the drive straightaway to the store.
Oh well, congratulations on the score and have a good time with Neil et al.

Absolutely no disrespect, I genuinely want to know why "Jimmy-come-lately"'s inclusion was so important to you? (I personally have always had a strong aversion to ANY band trying to sell me a replacement member.) All I longed for were the remaining originals, and they did not disappoint! I cannot lie - nothing tears at my heartstrings like a perfectly executed live performance, and I was absolutely inconsolable during "On The Way Home". It was just so impassioned and it was nice to hear Richie reclaim his vocal spot. Stephen and Neil also brought their A-game and were in fine throat. Perfect set, excellent choices. Jesus, I was drained by the end. Here's "On The Way Home" for all to enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzSjPBbxAqU

You are absolutely right on all counts. "Last Time Around" WOULDN'T have happened without Jimmy. But since that LP is more a compilation of tracks recorded late '67-early '68 without every member on every track, I've never considered it part of their discography. Buffalo Springfield only released two studio albums in their career and a patchwork third. And yes, Jim's harmonies are outstanding, but last night's performance was not lacking for harmonies.

Local reviews have been very positive, especially toward the Buffalo Springfield reunion... quite a few mentions of Elton John and Leon Russell, too.
