Depending upon the severity of one's neurosis, maybe nothing is wrong here, however after picking up two UPS packages from my porch today it dawns on me that:

I paid roughly $50 for a single (1) Dave Mason cd (Dave Mason is Alive) --- an album which the artist never sanctioned to begin with -- and I paid $103 for eight (8) Bob Dylan mono albums (actually 9 discs) presented, from what I understand, in the way the artist intended them to be heard, in a handsome box with a big book, and an extra heretofore unreleased live CD for a total of 10 discs.

Thank goodness for dollar cost averaging.

OK. Well, I forgot to add, the shipping carton for the single CD was bigger than the one for the 10 CDs. And they came from the same Wamazing on line retailer (granted, probably the best one around). What about THAT???? :yay:

You forgot to post the picture.

How can we determine "What's wrong with this picture?", if you don't post the picture ??

Actually, the problem here is that nobody signed for such valuable packages. It's amazing that FedEx, UPS, et al, can just dump packages on a porch and drive off, leaving them completely unattended.

Equally surprising is the fact that more of these packages don't "disappear". If I were a thief and had nothing better to do, I would've followed the FedEx truck around on 9/9/09 and made a killing re-selling Beatles boxes.

I'm glad you got your packages OK, let us know what you think of the Dave Mason disc

I bought the Dave Mason also, though I got mine for $35 delivered. But I already had the vinyl & a home made needle drop cd!

I think about that all the time. I'm (quite) fortunate in several respects --- that my job allows me some creative scheduling (and I live only four miles from where I work) so I can get home quickly to check the porch and with Amazon Prime I know precisely what day the package is scheduled to arrive; thankfully the UPS and FedEx schedules through here are pretty reliable (the USPS is another story though...); my wife works 2 weekdays each week and can be there often; the neighborhood is really "neighbor friendly" and folks know each other (maybe a little too welll ....)

Actually, last year for the Beatles, I took 2 days off. Spent the first day outside washing my car waiting for UPS for the stereo and FedEx for the mono (or vice versa). They arrived within 30 minutes of one another and then, o-bla-di, o-bla-da, as it were....

btw...I love the Dave Mason. It was the first Dave Mason solo record I had. And, circling back throug all the music collecting irony of this thread, I bought it in a cut out bin at a Venture store when I was in college. Probably cost less than 2 bucks at the time.

Like Geff, I have a pretty good needle drop of this one as well and was going to be content with that but these things don't come around that often.

I think it sounds great ...full and rich, beats the needle drop for sure. I always liked the small combo feel of the record and, having all of his work from Alone Together through Old Crest, it still ranks as my favorite. Walk to The Point Of No Return is more basic than the Mason/Elliot duet. And while I like the duet, I like the less complicated version much better.

I agree with MD, imo along with Alone Together, Alive is his best, buy a HUGE margin. I also agree this version of WTTP is much better then the Mama Cass duet.

As far as sound, I find the bass to be a little boomy; but that's in the master, my needle drop has the same issue; in fact I thought it was a feedback issue with my turntable until I heard the same in the SHM. Sounds fine other then the boomy bass.
