No info on possible storylines, but the article notes that it will be distributed by Disney, not Paramount.

You know, it's funny, but I missed all the Mandarin references in the first two films. In watching 2 today with the director commentary, Jon Favreau pointed them out. Clearly, the films are building up to some version of that character.

Wonder what the Mandarin's armor will look like?

Heh - I just listened to the Favreau commentary for Iron Man 2 today as well. He didn't really have a good answer for how Rhodey could power Tony's suit.

I really wish they'd just announce the movie and not the date. IM2 suffered from being rushed.

Not by my reckoning. Almost as good as the first one, IMO.

Natasha's line about encryption to prevent unauthorized access tells me that the suit had been modified for Rhodey to use. It makes sense that he would give them the Mark 2 flying suit, as it was the one that didn't have any of the really tits high tech weapons on it (other than the repulsors, which were primarily designed to aid in flight). I always figured the War Machine armor was supposed to be a lower tech version of Tony's armor anyway.

It would really be something if they didn't give the Mandarin a suit of high tech armor. We've seen Iron Man fight other suits twice now... I say, this could be really cool if they just stick to an underworld warlord with ten magic rings.

I think they should get really creative, like some totally new villain in suit of armor that looks different.

Waiting for the big scene where Tony is defeated by a villain, only to be rescued by Pepper and Foggy in their Iron Man suits... a la What If #3

I don't want new ideas put forth in movies about established superheroes from comic books to that degree.

There were plenty of good Peter David Hulk issues that didn't have the Pantheon in them. Stop being a jackass.

I'm hoping that it's a huge showing of contrasts in #3. Ancient Chinese architecture with mighty halls, temples, dungeons.......The Mandarin with his brilliantly colored robes, his 10 magic rings with no tech what-so-ever vs Tony Stark, the guy who hates magic. This would be awesome.

I think the father stowed away another home movie, as well.

I would be surprised if The Mandarin's ring are magic instead of tech. I see them as being ten mini arc reactors like the ones Stark made.

And then Iron Man would fight ten guys in armors powered by them.

"Oh, hey Tony. I should probably tell you... While passing through the Orient, I sort of raped and pillaged a town or two. This guy with a fist full of rings mumbled something about seeing me and my offspring in Hell. So that might come up with you somewhere down the line.

Now here's some footage of my Bathroom of the Future."
