The next PT DVD - update from porcupinetree.com 05. Sep 2009 at 02:46 A question increasingly asked is; what happened to the planned Porcupine Tree DVD for which 2 shows in Tilburg in The Netherlands were filmed last October? The answer is that work did commence on editing and mixing the concert footage, but everything was put on hold while the band recorded The Incident. Now the project is once again moving forward, and the DVD is tentatively scheduled for release in the Spring. The completed footage, which was filmed in high definition, looks and sounds fantastic, and is a step up in quality from the band's previous "Arriving Somewhere" DVD. There are also plans for a deluxe multi disk edition to include not only audio CDs of the Tilburg performance, but also CDs containing at least one other memorable show recorded earlier during the Fear of a Blank Planet touring period.
In the meantime an audio only version of Way Out of Here from the work in progress DVD is currently available as a free download if you buy The Incident from play.com in the UK.

Linda, There was a very limited edition of this with a DVD, Blu-ray, and 2 CD's in either Red or Grey cloth covered book for sale at http://www.burningshed.com .The Red cover sold out in a couple of hours but I got an order in for the Grey version. Both are identical in disc content.I just received it on Thursday so I haven't had time to watch or listen to it but it is a nice package.
Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize (Special Edition) Filmed in high definition and taken from two concerts given by Porcupine Tree at the end of the Fear of a Blank Planet tour in October 2008, this deluxe special edition includes a 130 minute concert film on both standard definition DVD and high definition Blu-Ray disc,
The package also includes two audio CDs of the entire live film soundtrack, alongside a bonus track not featured in the film.
Limited to 4,000 copies with a grey cover and 1,000 copies with a red cover, the special edition comes in a beautiful cloth bound hardback book featuring concert photography of the band taken over the last few years.

I'm getting pissed off with these exclusive releases.
So exclusive that you can't get the fucking thing !
I won't say what I think of what Porcupine Tree at this moment in time. I have every CD/DVD they ever put out but I finally have had enough of the bullshit a fan needs to go through just to get a product you want.

or does anyone know if audio can be lifted from a file via opening the dvd?

The AmazWAN listing for this DVD shows the "Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1".
I find it difficult to believe that they would shoot it in Hi-Def, then release it in full-frame format, so is it listed incorrectly, or not?
Can anyone who has the DVD version verify if this really 4:3 aspect, or widescreen?
I recently picked this up at a fairly decent price, and (to answer my own question), it does appear to be in Widescreen despite Amazon's listing.
Great music and performance, but I have two gripes about the DVD:
1) The chapters don't appear to be indexed, and none of my players will display any track info or time remaining. The only thing displayed is "Track 1" and total running time from the very beginning
2) The editing drives me bananas, with the camera angle or perspective or camera changing constantly every two seconds or so. This attention-deficit-disorder approach to filmmaking may be all the vogue, but it is extremely jarring for the focus to jump from the singer's face, to an overhead shot of the drum kit, to the bass player rocking back and forth, to an extreme close-up of Steve Wilson's fretboard, to the keyboardist, and then back to the front of the stage, all in UNDER 10 seconds !! This does not come anywhere close to replicating the concert experience for me, unless I were a hyperactive monkey on speed. This approach misses out also on a lot of the light show and backdrops used by the Tree, which is an important element of their show.
So, looks like I'll be listening to this set, but not really watching the screen

I agree the camera angles and zooming in is weird and does take time to adjust. I also found their show to be a little slow and subdued but I love the band and the songs still are way better than most are producing these days.

It will be a shame if the spectacular Radio City show never gets released in some form. By far the best concert they have ever done.
Well the Radio City Show in 2010 (Porcupine Tree's finest moment) was never officially released but I do have an audience recording of the show thats excellent. Downloaded it to my IPOD and had it on last night and at the gym today.
Wish I could have a DVD of this show but the audience recording will suffice.

I have an audience recording of a show they did in my city Melbourne and that kicks ass as well. The drumming is spectacular. Steven Wilson had a microphone malfunction during a song, he managed to stay professional and most were none the wiser.
