On one of the local radio station's lunchtime programming today, they introduced a "new" write-in suggestion idea. An album, that the minute you started it, side one, track one, you knew it was going to be something special --- and it was. This is, of course, just another way of performing one our favorite pastimes, naming our favorite records. But, what the hell...it's fun, right?

The first album featured on the program, then, was Steely Dan --- Can't Buy A Thrill, and track one, of course, Do It Again. Extra points, too, I think, since that was Steely Dan's first album as well.

Three of my favorites, from whence I knew, even in my mid-teens, that these were destined to be great albums:

I Feel The Earth Move from Carole King's Tapestry

Baba O'Reilly from Who's Next

I Saw The Light from Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything

Not one that many people know, but my life was instantly changed by Lilybelle from The Geraldine Fibbers album Lost Somewhere Between The Earth and My Home.

"Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?" from the Ramones' End Of The Century.

Not a favorite album, but a favorite track 1.
