Today marks 40 years to the day we lost the great Jimi Hendrix.

RIP to my hero and a someone I admire as a innovative musician and incredible man.

And his music is still resonating...even today. The greats are always timeless. He certainly had his own thing about him and like The Beatles, Doors and a handful of artists from that era, he'll probably always be relevant to those who like music that's authentic, real and unique.

I'll have to cue up "Crosstown Traffic" later today (my fave Hendrix track).

I was just listening to someone cover 'And the Wind Cries Mary' walking through downtown today.
That he accomplished so much so quickly still blows my mind.

What Hendrix did over the course of a few years would take a current artist a few decades.

That level of both energy and focus suits a short life, almost as if he knew. Reminds me of Keats.
Energy. Focus. I miss you both.

Will cue up some Jimi tonite so Thanks Ranasakawa for mentioning this.

As others have posted, his brillance and exceptional quality of music released in just a short span validates him as being one of the best ever. Even the young kids that I talk to marvel and are blown away by him.

Amazing to think what he would have done over 10-20 more years, of course if he didn't destroy his talent with drugs like Page & others did.
