I love them.

http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/

They seem awfully expensive though, $35K, so I would likely need to win the lottery or something before I could buy one.

they do offer 0% financing.

It's amazing how closely they're imitating the appearance of classic Indian models. That "Chief Bomber" looks like it's supposed to be a take-off of the World War II-era Indian 841. And the "Chief Classic" is basically the last 1950s Indian Chief the original Indian company made before going under.

One of my uncles had a late-model Chief when he was a teenager in the late '50s. I've heard a couple of very amusing stories involving that bike. Those guys I wrote about some time back who rode from my home town out to California in 1942 also rode an Indian.

Not too many years ago a motorcycle journalist (who grew up on a reservation, BTW) rode a classic Chief across the U.S. He said the old bike burped on him every day. But he made it.

I just checked out the prices for some of these bikes. They're about $5,000-$10,000 more than comparable Harley models. That's awesome! No sarcasm, here. I'm actually very pleased that they are higher in price.

Not an Indian, but an iconic (there's that word again) bike nonetheless. Not only the definitive chopper, but perhaps the definitive patriotic bike. I bring you Captain America.

Edited to add: Well, the original was destroyed. This is just a replica.

That doesn't look a thing like Captain America's motorcycle.

It's not "Captain America's motorcycle."

It's Captain America... from the movie "Easy Rider."

Believe it or not.. I knew that, and my post was not 100% serious.

Well, you didn't know what burping was...

(But then, neither did I.)

It's when your bike starts making a funny noise or otherwise acts like it's about to conk out on you but you're able to keep it going.

It's actually this guy:

http://www.ama-cycle.org/news/story.asp?id=1862

He has circumnavigated the world five times by motorcycle, once with a 63-year-old woman who had been diagnosed with Parkinson's and had always wanted to see the world.

Nice!

My friend Brother Hawk suggested someone plan a motorcycle journalist tour of the Blues from New Orleans through the Delta and Memphis to Chicago. And he is right.
