I'm thinking of getting the two trades, and I just wanted to read some of the thoughts of my fellow IMWANkers.

Is this series worth a look for an old-school Spidey fan who dislikes almost everything Marvel currently produces?

I haven't even peaked at any of Marvel's Noir books.

Nor have I, really. The Spider-Man one sounds interesting, though.

I wasn't even aware that Marvel was doing a series of "noir" events. Are these black-and-white miniseries or something?

IIRC its the characters recreated in a film noir and pulp fiction style setting.

I figured it was something high-concept. But if they really want to do noir, it's got to be in b&w!

I read it and enjoyed it. Not the greatest thing in the world, but kind of fun.

Some of the character designs looked cool.

Okay - that settles it. Fun, good character designs; I'm in!

Thanks Monk, Rawburn and Meddlin' One!

I just skimmed through this. Sounds more like the stories in "weird menace" pulps than actual noir. Not my thing at all. Although it makes more sense to adapt superheroes into a pulp style than a film noir style. Guess they thought "noir" sounded classier than "pulp".

Possible. Also DC used "Pulp Heroes" several years ago as a theme for a bunch of annuals, so they might have wanted to avoid that word.

Oh yes, that's right, DC already used "pulp". Guess I paid about as much attention to that batch of Elseworlds as to this one!

I'm an Elseworlds/What If? fan from way back, so I thought this would be my kind of thing. :)
