First, I want to say thanks for an entertaining career that keeps kicking. I should start another topic asking this for everyone to find it: I LOVED your West Coast Avengers LS, which I waited most of my life to finally read in totum, and I wonder to what degree you chose those five members (and certainly the Shroud) for the "Wackos"? That series was a fine example of the right spirit for any "Heroic Age" notions, IMHO. Your man Bob Hall had very snappy art, with an affection for Tigra that particularly stood out.
I haven't run across any mention of you at SD Comic Con, but I live here in the Gaslamp and would be honored to meet a favorite scribe.
I'd ask you about your famed, grainy wedding picture, too, as it made me smile, but again, that's probably another thread with a title to tip off anyone. Personal stuff, granted. It really gave the close-knit feeling to the oft-mythical Bullpen!

That series was a fine example of the right spirit for any "Heroic Age" notions, IMHO. Your man Bob Hall had very snappy art, with an affection for Tigra that particularly stood out. Mainly, I chose Avengers that weren't currently active in the main book, but that would work well out of a West Coast base. That Iron Man was then based in California made his inclusion a no-brainer. Wonder Man's acting gigs made him a natural candidate as well. Hawkeye and Mockingbird were the most mobile, and I always liked Tigra. The Shroud was a West Coaster and made for a good non-member guest-star. And, of course, once the miniseries was over, their adventures were supposed to occur in the AVENGERS book. I never intended for their title to spin off. Quote: I haven't run across any mention of you at SD Comic Con, but I live here in the Gaslamp and would be honored to meet a favorite scribe. It would have been fun to go to the Con, but I'm afraid it's been beyond my budget for quite a while. No way...last time out, in this thread titled as above, I asked you about the origins of the West Coast Avengers, and also, if you were coming to the west coast yourself, specifically, my present city, San Diego.
So my copy of the ongoing WCA #1 comes in and I finally get to read it this morning...and there, in the text page, is Mark Gruenwald. He tells a story about you two devising the two team format...based on a conversation in Rome, Georgia, in 1983.
That's my hometown!!! I began collecting just a bit afterwards...thanks to the explosive end of the run on ASM by...er, some guy, I think you know him.
Do you remember that conversation? Or rather, would you care to remember it or anything about Rome for me? Were you at the convention center there beside the duck pond, just removed from Shorter Avenue? If it's kind of personal and you'd like to keep it to yourself, that's okay. But I like to think, an imagination like Mark's has found something deeply interesting to do, having gained knowledge of a state we will probably all discover for ourselves someday beyond this, if anyone can.
The West Coast Avengers started in my hometown. I just love the kismet.
Feel free to pimp your next project here as well....ya gots to eat! OH, and any memories of Mark, too. I find myself fondly remembering his Mark's Remarks tips. He was a Hawkeye kinda dude in the Marvel pantheon: I don't mean he started as a criminal, I just mean, while he wasn't a founder, he embodied its spirit and was a leader of its 80s incarnation. The butt-diving champion is a welcome subject of conversation. Maybe his spirit will whisper some good advice for me, too.

Rog, I can help you with a hotel room five minutes' walk from the Con, on Island avenue. My wifey works for the company. Just sayin'. If you don't mind passing as my relative, they won't say a word, LOL And I DO have one single solitary uncle...named Roger.

But unless things change -- always a possibility, of course -- I doubt that I'll be getting out to San Diego anytime soon. But I do appreciate that offer. -- Uncle Rog

I'm just glad you survived your encounter with the Thing I'll always imagine West Coast Avengers coming to life around the old duck pond where I used to picnic with my dates, beside the old convention center in Rome.
