More Jimi Hendrix albums, incl. "Live at Woodstock", "Blues" & "Live at The BBC" are moving to Sony in October, and there will be a new collection "West Coast Seattle Boy:The Jimi Hendrix Anthology" offer in 4-CD + DVD and 1-CD + DVD editions. The reissues of "Blues" & "Live at The BBC" will add a DVD. All of these releases are available for preorder at Amazon.com
It is not known if any of these releases contain any unreleased music.

Most likely a straight reissue of the one issued by Experience Hendrix some years ago.

I have always hated this CD. The songs were just a few jams and really are not commercially viable stuff. Would be better suited on the Bootleg label Dagger.

I fear (a great deal) this new anthology will only contain a handful of unreleased tracks once again.

For the $70 list price, the "deluxe edition" had best be something special. We already know the mastering will be compressed & painfully bright.

I wonder what will be on this 4cd boxset , will it be unreleased stuff ? Is there enough unreleased stuff to fill 4 more cd's?.

More than enough. But Janie Hendrix isn't generous enough to give us a whole box of unreleased stuff.

Directed and Produced by Alex Gibney, Janie Hendrix and John McDermott, the film features interviews and live performances not seen in the original PBS television broadcast. The Legacy edition of Jimi Hendrix Experience: BBC Sessions brings together recordings from Hendrix's appearances on a variety of BBC radio and television broadcasts from 1967 through 1969. Well, then I'll be buying the expanded BBC compilation and the new box set.

I note that "Live at Fillmore East" and "Live at Berkeley,2nd Show" are, for now, not being reissued by Sony. That's good, because there's the chance to give us something better, like a Berkeley release with both shows and selected tracks from the soundcheck, and a more extensive Band of Gypsies set, properly mixed from the multitracks.

I'd buy both (especially if they would back off on the compression & bright eq!)

I'd be the first to agree that some of the earliest Experience Hendrix titles("Are You Experience", "Axis:Bold as Love", "Electric Ladyland" & "First Rays of The New Rising Sun") had harsh E.Q., but by the time of "South Saturn Delta", the discs were starting to sound better.

The sound on the 2 CD edition of BBC Sessions was not as good as the one Alan Douglas did for Ryko Disc.

I prefer that one plus the traders 2 CD edition that is direct from the BBC DAT safe copy. It includes all the intro's warm ups and longer versions of edited songs.

When Sony reveals more about the forthcoming box set, then(and only then) I may preorder....if there is substantial amounts of unreleased material. We could be looking at another high quality archival excavation(like the Purple box), or some pointless "Greatest Hits" package.

Generally, when manufacturers are being secretive, there's a reason. These days, the labels behind catalog projects such as these want to TRY to keep a wall of secrecy until 3 to 4 weeks before the release date, even after journalists, record distributor employees or pressing plant employees leak the tracklisting. You'll note that EMi still won't release the tracklistings for the forthcoming John Lennon product, even after a Japanese record store website revealed the information.

This sort of shit record companies do make me (A Hendrix fanatic) feel sick in the stomach !

And here's more to make you feel sick: the next group of Hendrix titles(including the box set) have been postponed until November.
