Awesome, I hope as many people as possible post here. IMWAN, you make it crackle! Kirby Krackle, even. When THIS went home in my Trapper Keeper folder, I became a back-issue fiend, too, with a serious thing for 1983/84 era Marvel.  When my pal T.J. dubbed THIS at my request  I knew collecting rock records was for me! (Though it was cassette then). It's invigorating to think of the feelings and recollections these things must give the posters, because it's such a moment of wonder when you discover something that is for you!

I think I was more or less collecting from the moment that I read my first comic. Maybe it wasn't right away, but I'll be damned if I can tell you when it DID happen. Certainly, I wanted "more of these things" fairly early on, and I developed favorites fairly early on, too (Of course, the favorites kept changing in the early years.). The first comic I ever read was an issue of SPOOKY, THE TOUGH LITTLE GHOST. I didn't know if I would recognize the cover if I saw it again. I decided to glance at Mile High Comics, though, just in case, and you know...I THINK it was this one:  I can't be 100% sure, but that cover seems to strike a chord in my memory. I wish I knew the on sale date of the issue, but I couldn't find it anywhere. If I'm right, then I would have read it around the summer of 1974...or MAYBE 1975 (I think it was '74, though.).
