Weezer have collaborated with Ryan Adams for their upcoming new album.
In an interview with MTV, frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed that the pair had worked together on a song for the band's as-yet untitled eighth LP.
"I just wrote a song with Ryan Adams. Not Bryan, Ryan," he said. "It's a very stirring and emotional and powerful Weezer song. He was really inspiring to work with. He has a lot of wild and crazy energy.
Cuomo added: "It's gonna be on the Weezer record. He plays lead guitar on it, but it will be on the Weezer record, for sure."

I really like the regularity with which Weezer's putting out new records. We may never get back to where bands put stuff out every 6 months, but every 12-15 months is nice and shows a great work ethic and respect for the fans.

Ryan Adams? Better choice than Li'l Wayne, I suppose.

For all its derision, I LOVE Can't Stop Partyin'. It's a sad indictment of the star lifestyle and the emptiness it offers. Rivers isn't talking tough, or even being ironic. He's pleading for help. I think it's the most powerful song on the album.

Weezer have announced that their new album will be released on September 13.
The as-yet untitled LP is the follow-up to 2009's 'Raditude' and will be the Los Angeles group's eighth studio effort.
"I've spent the entire morning trying to come up with a name for the record," frontman Rivers Cuomo told NewsTimes.com."How does 'Heavy Mental' sound? There's definitely going to be more raw rock energy on this one."
Weezer have announced the title of their forthcoming new album.
Entitled 'Hurley', the LP is the follow-up to 2009's 'Raditude' and will be the Los Angeles group's eighth studio effort.
Released in the UK on September 13 and in the US on September 14, the band also revealed that they have just signed to Epitaph Records, after leaving Geffen in 2009.
"At this moment in our career, it feels like we don't need a major label," frontman Rivers Cuomo told Rolling Stone. "The major label culture isn't inline with our values. We like [Epitaph Records' owner and Bad Religion guitarist] Brett Gurewitz and it feels like a smaller and more appropriate operation for what we like doing at the moment."
While a tracklisting is yet to be announced, the album will also feature a song called 'Time Flies'. It was written by Mac Davis, who also wrote Elvis Presley's 1969 hit single 'In The Ghetto'.
Weezer have revealed the album artwork for their forthcoming new album 'Hurley'.
The follow-up to 2009's 'Raditude' will feature a photograph of American actor Jorge Garcia, who played Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes in the television series Lost.
"We struggled super hard trying to come up with an album title," frontman Rivers Cuomo told SpinnerMusic.co.uk. "[We tried] to find some kind of phrase that summed up the whole aesthetic behind the album: 'Heavy Mental', 'Smaller Than Life'. I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn't really have anything to do with anything."
He added: "I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia, it just had this amazing vibe. We didn't want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as 'the 'Hurley' record' even if left it without that title, so we just called it 'Hurley'. No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face."
Meanwhile, the group are streaming their first single from the new LP 'Memories' online and you can listen to it below.

I say lose. It's really dumb and kitchy. I know Weezer are fun, and I think they're great, but this is lame. Maybe Garcia can date the Vampire Weekend cover girl and they can sue both bands. I've never seen Lost but I assume people will know he is.

I'm with IP on this one. I'll buy it anyway, of course. Hell, I'd rather the cover be maybe Fred Sanford or Dr. Bellows, but the chubby guy from "Lost"?

Ha! That's funny DanO! Call the album YOU DUMMY! with Fred Sanford (aka Redd Foxx) and I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but this stupid-ass cover screams-we're still Indie, look how funny we are. They're not.

Yeah, I'm a fake fan because the fat hairy dude from Lost is the album cover. Even in jest, that's stupid!
From Anti-Music.com:
Better late than never, Epitaph has finally gotten around to announcing that they have signed Weezer. Here is the announcement with press comments from the band, with some album details (but minus the pre-sale pitch):
Weezer have announced plans to release a new studio album entitled Hurley this September 14th on Epitaph Records. "So far we've had a really good creative collaboration with Brett Gurewitz and the other people at the label, and I'm looking forward to collaboration with other like-minded alternative music fans at the label," Rivers Cuomo recently shared with Los Angeles Times.
Produced by Cuomo and Shawn Everett (Raditude, Phantom Planet, Ozomatli), Hurley is a high-energy rock album that wastes no time with the first single "Memories," an impassioned look at nostalgia with fast tempo, buzzing guitar riffs and killer hooky chorus. Subsequent songs include soon to be fan favorites "Ruling Me," "Trainwrecks," "Hang On" and "Brave New World." Rivers picks up the acoustic guitar on the reinvented power ballad "Unspoken" and the raw Sixties influenced, Mac Davis co-written "Time Flies." The classic Weezer sound is reignited with songs like "Smart Girls," "Run Away" and the quirky "Where's My Sex?" Fueled by a newfound sense of independence, Hurley finds the band making some of the most powerful and adventuresome music of their storied career.

You say yourself that you don't watch Lost, and your comments make it apparent that you don't like Weezer.
You are obviously not the target market for this album.
Everybody I've showed this album cover to at work has thought it was awesome.
My comments make it "apparent" I don't like Weezer when I'm a fan? What are you smoking? That hash pipe again? (Get it? Oh wait-I'm not a fan, never mind). I'm glad everybody loves the album cover at your work-that is concrete proof it's great. My band was covering Weezer songs in the mid 90's alongside our original material so it's safe to say I like them. I don't worship them, but I've always thought they were fun. I don't need to make hip comments like "full of win" to like the band. Leave the judgements on who is/isn't a fan to Judge Judy. I honestly thought you were kidding-I guess not. Oh well. I'll live and I'll still listen to them and I'll still hate the cover too. DanO must not be fan either!
