I take back everything bad I said about Johns and Robinson, and even the dumb triangle sequence.

Can I have them on the title again?

How long until they bring back the Electric Superman?

Maybe it'd be an improvement? ;)

Yeah, I peaked over the shoulder of someone thumbing through it yesterday. I saw panels depicting Superman playing basketball with some guys. Not punching asteroids or melting robots. Playing basketball.

No, you wanted them to leave and they're never coming back...

Oh, so just because he's white he can't play basketball?

Total bullshit.

Shooting pool? Horseshoe? Of course. I could even buy ping pong.

But Superman? Playing basketball?

An outrage!

It wouldn't have mattered if he was shooting hoops, playing horseshoe, playing ping pong or shooting pool... but you know that.

While at the same time giving the kids a very important lesson.

He did melt a robot in between lessons and walking, though.

It just gets better and better. Thank you, JMS, for teaching us how Superman should be. I can't wait to read this.

Also, I've pretty much given up on JMS as a creator.

His work on big name characters like Spider-Man and Thor has left me fairly cold. Spidey started strong but after the Ezekial story, things went in the shitter quickly (Sins Past). His Thor work was pretty weak, despite some high praise... mostly it was Thor just moping around and acting self-righteous in a small town.

His only really good stories were on the non-high profile characters. Rising Stars, Supreme Power, The Twelve... these were all excellent. However, he never finished and probably never will finish either Supreme Power (in the title Squadron Supreme) or The Twelve. So even when he's good, you're running the risk of being left hanging.

So, what's the point anymore?

He let the kid who was bad at sports win, thereby boosting his self esteem.

He also taught the illegal aliens (extraterrestrials, but still: oh!! political commentary!) that they should give back to the community.

And then he went back to walking again. Because that's the story. Superman, walking across the country, solving everything by being a patronizing douchebag.

You have got to be kidding me. What a selfish, ignorant thing for JMS to do.

There is no Superman right now, as far as I can see.

JMS greatest flaw as a writer isn't his slow pace, or his ill conceived storylines. The worst thing about his writing is how pretentious and self important it is. That's ok if you're a writer like Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman, and he is far from approaching their talent, but even they have a sense of humor, something completely lacking in JMS work. When you add that to a character like Superman, you get this:
