Here's the DC Comics "house ad" for the debut of the 1970s Man-Bat series. (As it turned out, Sturdy Steve only ended up drawing the first issue.)

I remember that ad! I haven't seen it in 25 years or more. Plus, I never paid attention to the credits back then, so I never realized that it was Ditko's work. It's a shame it didn't work out; Man-Bat seems like a great character for Ditko to work on.

I think the Conway and Ditko would have fit together really well, too.

Somewhere in the multiverse, there must be an "Earth-D" where Steve stayed on SPIDER-MAN for about 100 issues, then was lured away to DC for a long run on BATMAN.

It would have been an interersting run. Milgrom inking doesn't look too bad either...
Judging from the brief glimpses here, I would have loved to see Ditko on a Bat-Man run. He was scheduled to do a story in the 1990's in, I believe, Shadow of the Bat-Man, but although it was advertiseed it never appeared and was replaced by a John Buscema story. Perhaps Ditko did not approve of the script and turned it down?

I have both issues of Man-Bat. I think the second issue was done by Ernie Colon.

According to the GCD, it was Pablo Marcos who did issue 2 of Man-Bat, and I believe the couple of Detective Comics back-ups that appeared shortly afterwards. Not very Ditko-like.
A bit later, Ditko did do a couple of Demon stories that brought back Baron Tyme, though. Following a first episode by Michael Golden . . what a transition!

Ok! That style sounds right. I should have looked it up myself. Thanks Jeff!
