For James and the other NBA fans, let's start a thread about the upcoming season. I dislike the NBA and cannot sit through a full game anymore and haven't in years, but I still read about it. Of course the 76ers blow so it's been easy for me not to care. But after hiring Doug Collins, the trade with Sacramento getting rid of Dalembert somehow and getting Nocioni and Hawes, and drafting Evan Turner and the serious development of Jrue Holliday as a a stud maybe there's hope.
Of course after last night's SICKENING display with Lebron James, what more needs to be said about the isnane money these guys make and the compelte disconnect with reality? Shame on ESPN for being the corporate whores they have been for so long now. Jim Gray looked like a total douche from the clips I saw and that's not a surprise, as he was handpicked by James's entourage of fools.
I am still mystified at what a display this whole debacle was. Truly wretched. And Miami will not win the title anyway!

The NBA bores the heck out of me, but I do know that the self-proclaimed "King" and his Miami Heat are now firmly secure as my most hated NBA team. I don't mind him being free to sign anywhere, but to make a TV special out of blowing off his home city and fans? Disgusting. I can't believe he fancies himself as the new Jordan. He's now Scottie Pippen (at best) to Duane Wade's (poor man's) Jordan.

I guess the Knicks are my favorite team (or they were in 1973, anyway), but I'll be pulling big time for the Cavs from now on. I might actually watch some playoff games next season to see Miami choke.

I love how the Cavs owner (I think?) ripped James to shreds. He owed Cleveland nothing-he didn't have to stay but he did not have to make it a spectacle of the most disgusting proportion. What a joke and a giant ego stroke. Oh wait-some proceeds went to the Boys And Girls Club Of America-what a humanitarian.

Us Washingtonians still haven't forgiven the Okies & David "Jackass" Stern fer swipin' our b-ball team.

But hey, at least our WNBA team is in first place! Who needs Lebron, we've got Lauren Jackson & Sue Bird. & besides being killer players, they're HOT!

I'd rather watch a test screen pattern for 48 hours than a WNBA game. I guess the NBA needs to show losses and the WNBA covers that and then some. I couldn't name one player or one team, but I saw parts of a few games over the years-dreadful. They could kick my ass on the court-doesn't mean I'd want to watch them play. I do like some women's sports, especially tennis, softball and lacrosse, but the WNBA is a joke.

The NBA blows. Too much posturing and "look at me" stuff. Score a basket, scream, pull your jersey back to show off a tattoo, and act like you just cured cancer. Bullshit.

That said, I like this from Drew Carey's Twitter page.... "There's no LeBron in team"

The NBA sucks largely because nobody can shoot or score anymore for the most part. And I agree with the posturing and all the bad-ass tattoos and that shit. The league sucks right now.

As a Laker fan since 1975, I'm used to being the most hated team in the NBA, especially since Kobe took over the team, so it's kinda amusing to watch Miami immediately supplant us where people are even rooting for Boston to beat them, including myself. Lebron has never learned the age-old adage: never believe your own hype. And that's all he is. He's never done a damn thing in the NBA. But what do you expect from a guy who refers to HIMSELF as "King James"? They aren't even the best team in the East, let alone the league. The media has already anointed them champs, but you still have to play the game. If I lived in Cleveland, I would have told Lebron to get the F out, no one man is bigger than a city. I guess he hasn't heard that no man is an island either.

If they put an NBA game on in my backyard, I wouldn't watch it. And is there anything more worthless than a crawl on ESPN that says "BOSTON 2 SACRAMENTO 0 11:34"?

My favorite line about the whole idiotic egofest this week - some comedian on Bob & Tom said, "I believe Lebron James is going to announce he's having a sex change operation so he can dominate the WNBA". I'm not quite with IP, though - I'd rather watch 148 hours of a test pattern on pause than a WNBA game.

I think my favorite line in the aftermath was Art Modell being quoted as saying Cleveland needs to get over it. If you have Art Modell defending your actions, you really need to sit down and examine your life.

In the PNW, we love your Lakers for eliminating the Okie evil empire from the playoffs. Even sports radio in Seattle was rooting for the Lakers!

The scoring thing kills me too. Final scores where neither team can put 85 on the board is pathetic. I'm OLD guys....I remember going to Virginia Squires ABA games here at home, and seeing both theams put 130 on the board. And in the ABA, that was commonplace.

God, I miss the ABA.

Everybody talks about Michael Jordan, but I've never to this day seen a player as spectacular as Julius Erving when he started out with Virginia. People forget that by the time he came to the NBA, he had already been playing 8 years and his knees were starting to go. He was unbelievable offensively AND defensively when he was in his prime.

Virginia Squires vs Kentucky Colonels 1973 Eastern Division Semis.

Julius Erving and George Gervin were on the Squires at the time....

Lebron has even made Laker/ Kobe haters lovers......we'd love to see Kobe beat the snot out of the Miami Heat and their King.

To make even better get Pat Riley back in the chair vs Phil jackson.

USA wins by the skin of their American asses today over Brazil 70-68 in the FIBA World Championships. Next is Iran on Wed. Will the US win by 50?
Rumours that Spain tanked today's game against France to avoid the US. Isn't that something the French should be doing?

They might have to hold back the Cavs owner (Ted Lerner is it?). I'm so glad the Heat have struggled-I despise them so very much.

Funny how buying your way to a championship sometimes backfires horribly.
