Donald Duck?

Will people read comics 100 years from now?

In Europe, particularly in non-English speaking countries, Donald Duck is HUGE. They sell hundreds of thousands of issues of Donald Duck comics per week in some countries. The Barks tales are so beloved that they are ubiquitous in pop culture. A store display might feature a scene from a story, and everyone knows instantly what story it is from. As far as I know, no other comic characters come close to the popularity of the Ducks.

But here in the US? Not so much. :sigh:

That's what I thought. I tried to find some at the LCS and all the Duck comics they had were non-Barks. It was enough of an impulse purchase thing to where I didn't bother ordering when I got home.

Nope. I keep breaking them open and liberating the comics.

There are collectors who would consider you depraved for going in for naked comics like that!

I can picture Beachy as the subject of a huge mural, carrying a massive flag with the Gold Key Comics logo on it, symbolically marching towards a comics shop.

This mural will be featured in the John Beach museum of comics at some future date.

I seriously doubt this.

Although they'll NEVER be what they should be. It's all the comic code's fault. Regulated a perfectly valid artistic medium to the point of near oblivion, and it is still far from recovering.

A little.

Actually, I was just talking about him today. Which is weird, because I almost never talk about him.
