A woman has been arrested for pouring a jarful of mayo into the book return of an Idaho library.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100615/ap_ ... _vandalism

She is now suspected of being the vandal responsible for a string of incidents over the past year in which books have been returned covered in things like corn syrup and ketchup.

Okay, it's kind of a funny story, but I shudder to think of how many books this nut has probably ruined. She's probably cost that library hundreds of dollars, not to mention who knows how much staff time and aggravation.

Why? Why? Who did she think she was getting revenge on or punishing?

And given her demeanor in her mugshot, naming her Joy was a reach.

Meanwhile I've just been informed that we have a patron who has been routinely sitting at library computers for long periods of time while experiencing periodic attacks of incontinence. Now that's vandalism..... :sigh:

The pharmacy that I managed had one of those photo bins where you'd put your exposed film in an envelope and drop it in. People would constantly throw their trash in there, including the occasional soda or slushie. Sucked to have to repackage every roll of film and rewrite every envelope.

I have a suspicion that dementia may be playing a part in her vandalism. At any rate, that is an odd fixation.

You may well be right. Whatever the explanation, I suspect it's a pretty sad case.

Wasn't too funny when you realize that when cops caught her, she also had a loaded pistol in her car. Who knows when or how she was going to elevate her anger.
