According to AmazWAN UK, Ace will be releasing some c/p stuff in July; bad news is it all appears to be stuff already released in the US by collector's choice; hopefully it means Ace will be doing some reissues/compilations of their own soon....(I want a c/p Northern Soul compilation!)
I wonder if this is just an error on Amazon UK's part...while Ace could certainly license the CP material for the UK market (competing reissues from US & UK companies are nothing new), I'd be surprised to see them licensing the exact Collectors' Choice packages. While these CP reissues from CC are handsome indeed, they're not as lavishly packaged as a typical Ace release would be. Perhaps Ace is merely importing the discs/distributing them to the UK, or again, it's just an error? I'm eagerly awaiting the answer. While I'm supporting the Collectors' Choice reissue program and don't mean to minimize the truly fine job they're doing, I'd jump at Ace-style Cameo/Parkway reissues with 24-page booklets and track-by-track notes. Time will tell, I guess.
Maybe it'll be like when they did those Stax reissues in the mid 90s... they were released by Fantasy in the US and Ace in Europe, same tracklistings but the Ace versions would contain a bonus track or something (?) and different artwork (and maybe liner notes?) (well, I know that's the case for the Ruby Johnson compilation).
