This is one of the legendary live albums of the 70s for sure and was one of Heep's biggest sellers, and a Top 40 Gold album here in the States. Some people are saying this is just a re-release of the 2004 2CD remaster with the slipcover and the "Deluxe Edition" slapped on. If so, shame on Universal, but I'd like to know for sure.
CD 1 1. Sunrise 5:09 2. Sweet Lorraine 5:00 3. Traveller In Time 3:32 4. Easy Livin' 2:49 5. July Morning 11:50 6. Tears In My Eyes 5:01 7. Gypsy 14:01 8. Circle Of Hands 8:56 9. Look At Yourself 7:30 10. The Magician's Birthday 1:45 11. Love Machine 3:26 12. Rock'N'Roll Medley 8:40
CD 2 1. Something Or Nothing (Radio Show Edit) 3:11 2. I Won't Mind (Radio Show Edit) 5:50 3. Look At Yourself (Radio Show Edit) 6:19 4. Gypsy (Radio Show Edit) 4:37 5. Easy Livin' (Film Mix) 3:19 6. So Tired 3:53 7. I Won't Mind (Film Mix) 6:04 8. Something Or Nothing (Film Mix) 3:22 9. The Easy Road 3:07 10. Stealin' 5:28 11. Love Machine (Film Mix) 2:15 12. Rock'N'Roll Medley (Film Mix) 7:50

When i have a chance I'll bring my 2004 downstairs & compare the track listing for you.
Geff: Thanks-I wasn't aware you had some Heep. This is one amazing live album-David Byron's vocals, the soloing by Mick Box and Ken Hensley on guitar and organ the wild bass lines by Gary Thain (he was so great) and Lee Kerslake's drumming proved how good these guys were, especially in their prime. The vocal harmonies are what made them stand out more than anything else and some people disliked that aspect.

I have several: (all the most recent UK remasters) the 2 disc version of 1973, Demons & Wizards, Magician's Birthday, Look At Yourself, Salisbury & "Best Of Part 1" for Stealin'. My thing with Heep has always been that I only liked the early stuff.

The tracklisting is identical to the 2003 Sanctuary release. Nothing New.
Well, the slipcase is new. Just kidding. Looks like another fast one from Universal trying to fool people like they did with the ELP "Deluxe" Welcome Back and Works Vol. 1 and 2 sets. Now I know it's the same I'll be fine with my 2004 remaster. And yes, Geff the 2CD version is a great upgrade from what was already a great live album (except that annoying 50s medley!).

Is this an expanded version of the original or is it the original CD plus a bonus disc? Some of the tracks on disc two have some tracks subtitled (film mix).

Disc 1 is the original with the R&R medley restored that was left off of the US cd. Disc 2 is all completely separate recordings from the same time period, & is pretty good though not as great as disc 1. Sound is also improved from the mediocre US issue.
I'm actually playing it as we speak. It's probably been a couple years. What an awsome album. For the sake of those who didn't buy the 2003, I actually hope this isn't a new master; Sanctuary has been on a brightness/compressed kick as of late.........

Is there a single disc version with all the original tracks intact? Sounds interesting, but I don't know if I want (or need) the bonus tracks. Never bought a Heap CD before...
To me $11.64 for the 2 disc is a no brainer, but depends on your finances! The $11.64 is from blowitoutahere, who I've had great luck with. They're also $4 cheaper then the next lowest seller.
I'll still post again after I play disc 2, which I'm not all that familiar with.
It almost sucks having a collection so large that I go years without playing a favorite album (that I paid a fortune for when it came out!).

Which would you recommend, Geff? The truncated single disc or the DE?
Chris: It's a no-brainer, Geff is right. The 2CD is the way to go. The bonus cuts are like Geff said from around the same era of 73-74, some from the soundtrack of a TV gig they did. If you're looking for a single live CD of the classic Heep era, I highly reccommend the King Biscuit Live CD from San Diego in 1974. Absolutely awesome and with a few different songs than Uriah Heep Live January 1973. But I'd really suggest the Uriah Heep Live January 1973 album, because it's really one of those must have classic live albums. Damn, all this Heep talk has me thinking of driving to NY to see them this month, but it's a bit of a drive for me. I probably won't but I will play a lot of Heep this week.

Chris, my final answer (Take that Vanna White!) is if you can still get the 2 disc for $11.69 nab it. As you probably know i normally hate 50's rock, & I even like the 50's medley on it! Disc 2 also isn't bad at all.
I disagree with IP regarding the KBFH, I don't like it nearly as much as this one. Been so many years I couldn't tell you why, but I remember selling it back to the local used record store soon after I bought it.
Can't say it enough, but to me UH Live '73 is an early 70's hard rock essential.
