hmm...in my collection, there are six volumes in a much more interesting "Essential Elvis" series:

4. A Hundred Years From Now (Essential Elvis Volume 4)
5. Rhythm And Country (Essential Elvis Volume 5)

All six of these discs are packed full of alternate takes unavailable elsewhere.

AMW, if you like alternate Elvis, there's a whole heap of CD's in the "Follow That Dream" series. They are available from the German Milestone mail-order site.

How does this stack up as a first Elvis album for a newbie? Especially considering that we've already got collections of all his #1s and #2s...

This Esssential Elvis Presley 2CD title is apparently selling like hotcakes at many Target stores.

Three of the four Targets I've been to since yesterday are already sold out of them. The fourth store had two copies left. And it's only Wednesday.

Anyone know if this is the same remastering from the "1" and "Elvis at Sun" discs that used master tapes? Insert on "Essential" doesn't say so.
