Mentioned in another thread, here's the reason were doing it.
When I was a kid, friends would occasionally give us a SC gift tray for the holidays, and for some odd reason we wouldn't eat any of it, we'd just leave it under the tree for decoration I dunno if my folks didn't like them, or thought they were to pretty to eat, but sometimes they would get packed away with the decorations, and get put out the next year for display. (WTF!?!?!?!?)
So I vowed one year after opening one of the old ones (just to see how bad it could be), and seeing these blocks of yellow chalk that used to be cheese, and chunks of dried up nasty smelling jerky like substance that used to be summer sausages, that from there on out, any meat/cheese/cracker/cookie gift boxes we got, I was going to claim, and open and eat the damn thing!
But of course, usual Parker..........er.... um... Cherry luck, we never got any more.
I told the Mrs about this, and she said well, lets order one for ourselves this year and make up for it!
Gotta love a woman like that!

See, that's why I love this board and the people involved so much.
I could go the rest of my "regular" life, and never have a geek moment like that (putting my Ultraman avatar together with Hiyata-his earthly identity), and yet I can come here and be surrounded by people of like minds! People that I 'get', and that 'get' me!
Life is good!
(and so is the Swiss Colony Shrimp Cocktail spread! yummy!)

That is also what I like about a place like this. In real life I have exactly one old friend that was into comics and science fiction [and I haven't spoken to her in the flesh in years], maybe two others who even remember Ultraman. But here, the likelihood of being understood increases dramatically.

I freak people out when they give me a Hickory Farms sampler. Once, I was given one by a distant relative. "All right, Hickory Farms!", says I. She got upset because she thought I was being extremely sarcastic. I really do love those things.
(Just the sausage, though. I usually ditch the packaged cheese and buy my own medium-sharp cheddar.)

James, remember last summer when you called me out for referring to his "clicky thing." I think I had a Johnny Sokko avatar then.

It was actually called the "beta capsule," right?

It's quite gratifying to know that I can still remember something like that at least thirty years after I last saw "Ultraman."

"Using the Beta-Capsule, Hayata becomes... ULTRAMAN!!!"
Absolutely one of the shows I lived for as a kid.

This all reminds me that I have to order SOMETHING from them so I can get my free tins of goodies. Any suggestions? Cheap is good.

The seafood cheese spreads in the tubs. 6 for like 18 bucks, and they are delicious!
