I felt I was surrendering to The Monolithic Computer Machine God when I broke down
and got my first cell phone not too long ago. Then I had a car breakdown.
Me: "Cell phone, you win".

In other news, I've decided to give this whole "horseless carriage" thing a try!

I held out a long time, but with my second child being born it started to look ridiculous that I din't have one where my wife could reach me if she went into labor.

I also put off getting my cell phone for as long as I could. Now I have an office-provided one, and an evilwench-provided one.

I love my iPhone, but I'd love it more if it was an iPod Touch.

I did not have a personal cell phone until this year. I was saddled with a work provided one for the past 11 years though. Now I couldn't live without my phone.

My pager works just fine.

And I get some jealous looks when it beeps in public. Right up to the point where I ask to bother someone's cell phone.

I considered it. But it was 2002, at the point where a cell phone was tiny. I got one of those Motorola "silver bullet" styled pones -- after Star Tac. I forget what they were called, but it was a tiny little thing like that one Will Ferrell had in the SNL skit.
