Star of Diff'rent Strokes. Had a troubled life even during his celebrity.

I still have my faux-Indian blanket that was the same as those Arnold & Willis had on their beds.

For all the flip or glib responses that I may make, this is my true sentiment. Poor guy had a lot stacked against him and was miserable for most of his life.

Yikes--he was only a couple of months older than me, a fact I've been aware of for thirty-plus years now. Very, very sad.

Friend of mine ended up sitting next to him outside at Disney World (circa 1990).
Left him alone (might have said hi to him.) Many others came up to him demanding
autographs, etc. Coleman said something like, "I'm not a ride here."

Blink-182, Katy Perry and Janet Jackson have paid tribute to Diff'rent Strokes TV star Gary Coleman who died aged 42, after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

The star, who played Arnold Jackson in the hit series from 1978 to 1986, coining the catchphrase "What you talking 'bout, Willis?", was taken to hospital on Wednesday (May 26) after a fall at his home in the US state of Utah and passed away later that evening.

Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus paid tribute to the star posting on his Twitter page: "I hope that in heaven Gary Coleman finds the peace that eluded him on Earth, and finally discovers what Willis was talking about."

Katy Perry also lined up to offer her respects along with Janet Jackson who tweeted: "I'm at a loss for words upon learning of Gary Coleman's passing. I want to remember him as the fun, playful, adorable and affectionate man he was. He has left a lasting legacy. I know he is finally at peace."

It is very, very strange reading the word "tweeted" in a serious news obituary.

Godspeed, Gary Coleman.

How much you wanna bet that E! reruns the Different Strokes edition of True Hollywood Story 87 times this weekend?
