I'm using this now. Just downloaded it and set it up with a gmail account. Seems pretty simple and straight forward. Anybody who has it like anything particular about it more than using webmail or Outlook?

I dislike it from years and years of using Outlook Express. It was just different enough to frustrate me. I only use gmail now in the browser (and on my phone in the Android app). No more mail clients to hassle with.

I still use Eudora. Because it still works.

Gmail web. No need for a client. I check it from work, from phone, from home (on multiple computers) and see the same environment.

So you guys who just reply "gmail" are merely logging in on the Google homepage then?

Yes. It's convenient in that I can check it at work or home, or where ever I can get access to a computer. And it keeps all my e-mail in one place as opposed to having some download onto my home PC, then being at work not being able to access it.

Yep. There's a link on the Google homepage or you can just go to http://mail.google.com to login.

I use Apple Mail by default, and love it.

I've tried Thunderbird now and then, but it never sticks, been using Apple Mail for too long, kinda the same thing that Jay's got.

My biggest problem is that I can't view all my mailboxes for all my e-mail addresses at once sorted together or at least I can never figure out a way to do this, and never saw it worth my time to figure it out.

With my ISP e-mail now available through a web interface, although I have Thunderbird I don't use it much.

Tried it years ago and hated it. Like OE, but without support for multipart binary attachments in newsgroups. I now use Xnews for newsgroups and Outlook for mail.

Yeah, just make a favorite for the mail link. Tell your browser to remember your password, and your mail is always a click away.

I even have a little button as an add-on that shows if I have new mail (and how many -- an inbox count).

I've been using AOL webmail for the last 8 years or so. I was trying to get away from them... as they just ain't what they used to be. I think I'll stick with Thunderbird and my new gmail account.

I used Eudora for a long time and loved it. But, they don't make it anymore, right?

They do not.

But the last version still works.

And I have 10 years of emails on file that I still reference.

Well, you could enable ldap and use a mail client, and still have your email everywhere; but it's just as easy or even easier to only use the web page.

I imported all my old email (easily 10 years worth) into gmail using the above mentioned ldap feature to drag and drop them, then synced to the web. Should the gmail service come to an end one day, I can just use the same method to re-archive them again before then.

I haven't bothered setting up Apple's Mail.app on my MacBook, but I still use it regularly on my
old PowerBook (which is my email archive).

I almost exclusively use Web-based email solutions since I need to frequently access my email
from home ad two different college campuses.

I feel safer with my email messages on my hard disk.
