Ted Kord "must" remain dead, but resurrecting Maxwell Lord as an ongoing villain? Hey, no problem. Having the "Brightest Day" banner over the logo on the cover was ironic. Not only what's in the spoiler above, but showing all the gruesome scenes leading up to it. Issue #1 might as well have had an "Infinite Crisis" banner on the cover instead.

I bought this, but I haven't read it yet. It's by Judd Winnick, who is not one of my favorites.

I think the reason why I bought it is simply because I loved the late 80's team... even though I know that this series probably serves to further destroy it and pound its remains into the dirt.

Me as well... I am annoyed that Booster Gold and Power Girl are both going through creative upheavals and will now be tied to this series so they are off my list too. I just read the Booster Gold preview with the new creative team and while I like Chris Batista on art, the story did nothing for me.

And then Dan Jurgens, assuming he's allowed to return to the series (and assuming there's still a series to return to), will have to waste a few issues cleaning up the mess this team is sure to leave. I wish that there was some interest at DC in a reincarnation of Jurgen's Justice League:

Linda, did Jurgens' Justice League maintain the humor of the Giffen/DeMatteis series or did he go the more serious route?

Great stories, artwork and characterisations. For my money it was the best JLA era since the 1960s. But it's been all but forgotten, sadly.

It probably got overlooked because it had the thankless task of following up the more comedic/satirical version, which I loved. But it's not forgotten as long as you remember it, Linda.

Don't you just love how he renders The Blue Beetle? None of the other DC artists ever do those pseudo-Spidey poses. Jurgens took that straight from Ditko.

Yeah, I liked seeing him illustrate BB in the recent BG arc as well.

I love Justice League and JLU so, so much and yet most of what DC does repels me far, far away.

I just re-read my "formerly known as THE JUSTICE LEAGUE." This was really fun stuff... the kind of stuff nobody wants to publish anymore, it seems. To me, the real Maxwell Lord was the nice guy billionaire who just wanted to manage a superteam. This new "Lex Luthor Lite" version of Maxwell Lord just isn't my cup of tea.
