In keeping with requests for more specific criticisms and maybe more positive comments I've decided to write about trades I've read at the library. Most recently were the following:

JSA Kingdom Come - overall very good, didn't like how easy the last battle went though, considering this god could do almost anything
Uncanny X-Men the end of history and New X-Me childhood's end. I couldn't follow either one
X-men: Old Soldiers. typical later Claremont but Alan Davis can do no wrong. One of my alltime favorite artists who keeps getting better.
Fantastic Four - Lost Adventures containing FF The End, which was also typical Lee without Kirby or Ditko, which means very lame.

I just realized something. Of all the books I peruse in trade format, X-Men continues to be the hardest to get for the occasional reader. And Claremont's new stuff is the most dense.

I read Essential Iron Man vol.2 from the library. The most recent library books were Green Lantern: Sinestro Corrps War. Which I really enjoyed.

Yeah I tend to read Johns' stuff from the library too.

I just re-read one of Brubaker's Catwoman trades, art by Stewart. Very good stuff, could easily see this as a tv series and the art is very nice,

I use the library to borrow low priority comics or comics that I am not sure I will invest in. Same thing for CD's. And DVD's. Books I buy myself, library is not cult enough for me.

Me too. I've read stuff in the library that has made e want to buy it for myself.

Yes, it's great Brubaker. It's on the "grim and gritty" side, but he did it with new characters in a Wildstorm comic. It's noir superhero, which hasn't really been done as well.

I'm a big fan of Incognito, Criminal, and Sleeper. But I thought maybe Sleeper would be in the library. It should be.

I second the Sleeper recommendation.

Put it on hold at the library. I will let you know my thoughts.

I'm about halfway through the first trade of Sleeper. It's well written though the art at times is muddy and hard to follow. Not a fun escapist book but very well done.

I just took out Hush vol.1&2. It seems ok so far but I'm not into it yet.
