... and the old Epson Stylus inkjet that I had been using was about 10 years old before it shit the bed on me. I paid about $250.00 for it back in the day. I go to Best Buy today and told the blueshirt who intercepted me as I was approaching their computer department that I was interested in a new printer and told him I didn't want to spend more than $300.00. He laughed at me (which is something Best Buy blueshirts have done before) and told me that their most expensive printer was $260.00. I also discovered that all of said printers also had document/picture scanners built right into them, which I had no idea was now the industry standard.

I want to know if any of you recommend a particular brand, model and make.

I got mine at Costco, and it's an HP OfficeSmart, all in one, with built in WiFi and networking (doesn't need to be attached to a computer to act as a "server").

You are correct, Printers got ridiculously cheap. I paid something below $200. I just remember it started with a1.

At Sam's and Costco they have some good HP's. But I don't do anything special with mine (that goes for the scanning and printing).

I just bought an HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format printer at Office Depot on sale and I love it. It prints up to 13 inches wide and banner length. The colors are great. Unlike my last HP wide format printer (1700 ps), it's lightweight and prints without jerking.

Very nice, but I do want one that scans too. I failed to say that earlier. But that's a nice printer.

I thought so, but after reading the Amazon reviews, I'm not so sure.

We need a new printer/scanner/copier but I don't need a fax. My wife uses eFax for work. She mainly needs the machine to scan faster because when her boss, a dr., asks for the aging (old billing) it takes forever.

I recently purchased the Epson Artisan 710 for our office recently. It's WiFi enabled, Scans, Copies, and prints directly onto Inkjet printable CD/DVDs. It works great on both our Macs and PCs.

I'd like something new that has a better ink capacity than HP usually provides. I go through these $30 cartridges like water.

This is the one I went with. I like it a lot.

It just floors me how I can get a scanner and printer/copier (which prints at much higher dpi) for around the same price I paid for a printer-only unit ten years ago that printed at only 300x600 dpi.

This thing is also wireless, which is kinda nifty for me too, as I don't have any other wireless devices in my life. (I've never had a cell phone.)

Does it scan fast? That is my wife's concern. She likes the wireless aspect of that all-in-one.
