I was just now watching the commercial for Toy Story 3, and there's a Totoro toy in the room now, standing there blinking. I think the story has the gang getting combined in with some other donated toys, and I saw a shot with a Totoro standing there in the group.

Just think, we knew him when he was one of the little people here at IMWAN (sniff).

I will now Google-fu and try to find the trailer or screenshot I saw.

That didn't take long.

Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The title character of Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro film makes a cameo in Toy Story 3, Lee Unkrich and Pixar's film project which just released its third trailer on Thursday. Toy Story 3 will open in North America on June 18.

Miyazaki and Pixar founder John Lasseter have been personal friends for two decades; the two have visited each others' studios frequently over the years, and Lasseter helped oversee the English release of Miyazaki's Spirited Away and Ponyo. Along with previous efforts, Lasseter opened a 2008 charity auction at Pixar's own headquarters for the Totoro Forest Project, an effort to save one of the forests that inspired My Neighbor Totoro.

Well, you know Hollywood, they never get these things right. It's an "adaptation."
