$6.98 was probably quite a lot of money back then. Probably the equivalent of $29.95 today!

The blue hair ribbons are a nice touch. Supergirl should have had those as part of her official costume.

It was the '50s, so they didn't need the disclaimer: "WARNING! Cape does not enable wearer to fly."

I was thinking that this costume has a much cooler skirt than most s-girl costumes have.

I like the boy's shoes. Gotta get me a pair of those.

When I was a kid, somebody passed theirs on to me. All that was left was the shirt and the cape, but good enough.

What a sad world it is that 8-year-olds don't wear wing-tips anymore.

Are there actual photos of these costumes? I'm curious what the quality is, as $7 for 1956 does sound fairly steep.

I got one in the 70s and it was made of plastic, like a halloween costume. It was shortsleeve too, so different than the one shown.

Nice. Though I love what they keep coming out with now for kids. My four year old LOVES his Iron Man costume (with muscles) and his Spiderman one. Though lately he has been on pretending he is an animal. He will declare himself a tiger and then ask for Cheerios at which times he declares the Cheerios to be individual people that he may eat them all.

How immature. Tell him to get a job.

I wanted one as a child, but never had the barrel chest required to pull off a Wayne Boring Superman suit.
