From Musictap...

"Epic/Legacy is releasing The Music of Cheap Trick, and The Music of Kansas, both on May 25 (CD). Arista kicks in with The Music of Run-DMC, same date."

Any idea what these could be besides unecessary? Revamped Essential disc(s)?

HA! I suppose those that buy "anything with a hole in it" will get it. Cheap Trick's individual albums need
serious attention as has been discussed.

I think these are 3 disc sets, but who the hell knows what they're doing with them. Legacy has become a laughing stock sadly.

These are simply budget-priced "box sets"...a number in this series were released last year for artists like Elvis, Sinatra, etc. They're actually a decent way to get an artist's core tracks for a cheap price. Anyone reading this board is not the audience for these discs, trust me. I doubt they take up very much energy from the fine folks at Legacy putting together the pricey, collector-oriented boxes that we here tend to salivate over.

I hope Legacy continues being a joke if their joking consists of the recent Hall and Oates and Dolly Parton box sets (and the prior year's sets for Willie Nelson and Roy Orbison), the Stooges' Raw Power and Elvis' On Stage Legacy Editions, more (very overdue) reissues in the Phil Spector series, etc. etc....seems like a lot of hatred around here for what are essentially budget-priced comps aimed at very casual customers! I don't think we're being ignored!

What's unedited about this compared to Found All The Parts? I might consider getting this because of it.

Um, not finishing the remastering of the catalogues of Santana, Kansas, Psychedelic Furs, Jeff Beck, Cheap Trick (and what they've done there is a travesty-especially since I got an email from Legacy about how these were finished last week-yeah, by other low-budget labels with no bonus tracks-that qualifies as a joke), Heart, Blue Oyster Cult, etc., etc., etc.
The things you mentioned are coming less and less frequently and are usually just retreads of previous albums that have already been remastered or box sets that offer up very little rare.
Sing their praises if you must, but they have become a total joke to me and I once really respected the work they did. My guess is, it's the finances of the industry that has led to their downfall.
P.S.
The comps are never done correctly, even when it's a 3 disc comp-they STILL miss all the hits-and these comps are examples of that.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but four words keep me from calling Sony/Legacy a total joke: Vic Anesini & Mark Wilder.

It looks like the unedited version is 36 seconds longer based on the info at Yahoo & Allmusic (4:16 vs 3:40 assuming the timing info is correct). No idea what that 36 seconds consists of though. (extended solos? audience interaction? applause?).

I never said the people were a joke-those guys you mentioned do excellent work.
